Teh Strat with a bunch of gain. The order of the speakers is:

Crex, Vet30, V60L, Crex+Vet30, Crex+V60L, Vet30+V60L

I think I like the Crex+V60L the best :dukes:

Thanks for the speaker comparison broski.

Do you have multiple inputs on your interface? It is a lot of groovy fun combining multiple speakers with a a dual mic setup.

I love having two inputs for my 2x12 cab, mixed speakers and mics.

I might be tempted to sell my 990, because eventually I will probably pick up the 990/991 set in the future. I really want an Audix i5 and some other (maybe a ribbon) mic very soon.

But that is a pretty big might.

I might not though. I'm also debating getting one of these:

Well, that, or the two, or the one.

Those look interesting. Don't think I have seen them in any stores around here though.

I've toyed around with the idea of getting an i5 but I just can't justify it yet... If I have money left over from everything I'm trying to do I might jump on a good deal

I have heard it is similar to the SM57, so it might be a bit redundant if that is the only thing you have.

The veteran 30s sound doap to me, with this distortion sound, anyhoo. I would almost be inclined just to rock a stack of those with this map. :idk:

The problem I have is that none of them sound bad... The V60L is my current favorite, but I think I'm going to keep switching them up for about a month or so until I can make a decision.

@ dev: gat dammit... In all honesty, I'm really not sure what I want in my second mic :cop:

I mean, I know they sound different, have different character and such. So they might actually make for a nice mix. I think the i5 has a bit more going on in the low end, and less of the SM57 mid-growliness.

That's pretty accurate; I'd say the i5 is brighter on top, as the Audix stuff tends to be. Crisper, more open. Less of the congested midrange 57 thing. (Which is oftentimes a good thing as it tends to be useful in a mix.) I can A/B the two on guitars for youse guyse if you'd like; I'm back in studio mode after Saturday.

If you already have an SM57, get an LDC or a ribbon. For an LDC, the MXL V67 is nicey and cheapey. The MXL2001 and V63 are also decent for low cash. For a ribbon on the cheaps, you have something ghetto like a Nady RSM-4 or 5. For nicer, something like a Cascade Fathead would be swell, and still under $180.

Either one would give you a nice foil for the SM57. If you only own two mics, IMO, they should not necessarily be anything like each other. :idk:
