That would be the extent of it, yes. I am sourcing parts and pricing things I Actually Need To Pay For versus what I can scavenge that random personages aren't utilising at the moment.

Sounds awesome. I loaf computer builds. Do post more updates.

i7, starting with 8 gigs of RAM (yeah, I know, only 4 at first to install OS X on a hax0r3d system... I want more bullshit-and-booze money in my checking account for the next couple weeks.), 4 rackspace server case. Starting with a 1TB drive, a 640GB drive pulled from my old backup, and the drive pulled from my MacBook Pro to noink the shit off of it. Seeing Logic roll up on that shit will be glorious. Billed to Maschinenraum Studio. It's tax-deductible! I've had a few so the model number of the video card escapes me without consulting my reciepts; it's an Nvidia gaming card of some sort, albeit not an uber one. Since I'm not much of a gamer, I don't care. But I can put a bigass flatscreen TV behind the meter bridge of a 32 channel Soundcraft desk and it'll look all sexie-liek in my studio, and that is what matters to me: having a ginormous editing window in Logic.

My Newegg orders shipped! Amazon was being a bitch, and Miz Jen rightly pointed out if this is a business expense and tax-deductible, save the $50 Amazon gift certificate for personal whatnots. I'm not gonna have time to assemble the thing until Thor's Day anyhow, with two rehearsal nights in a row with Garda and The Forgotten Ones.

Seeing Logic 9 roll up on that is gonna be goodtimes. :nods:

Yuss :huzzah: My brother mentioned doing a computer build to have a dedicated recording PC. I'm thinking once I get a job again it could happen, especially if I could get him to get a house in Washington with me at some point

Nice :tu: The only problems I had were with my onboard sound (not a big problem as I use a usb interface) and the Netgear wireless network card. Apparently if you get a gigabyte board you shouldn't have any issues with the ethernet poarts if that's how you roll.

How are you installing? iBoot and a legit Snow Leopard disc then patched with Multibeast installs seamlessly :isay: Although mine multitasks like shit, even with 4GB memoir.

Yep, Gigabyte board. Wireless isn't an issue as it's, well, not going anywhere, so patching directly into the router is fine. Nor is sound, seeing it's the studio computer.

And yes, that's exactly how I'm planning on doing the install. :nods:

It occurs to me if I ever actually played an online game on the thing I could amuse myself endlessly by patching effects onto whatever I felt like using for a talkback mic. :red:

woo! which i7 bro?

Also, be careful with the gigabyte boards, their USB chips are a little funny. Case in point, my friend got a PCI wireless card, plugged it in, and all his usb ports stopped functioning. I told him to return the card and get it in USB format, he did, problem solved. Funny part is, the wireless card works great on my asus board. ;)

But yeah, enjoy that i7. I LOVE mine. Biggest jump ever going from core2 duo @ 2.4ghz to an i7 at 2.8ghz, OC'd to 3.6ghz. :):)

Also, need pics of build :D:D

i7-870 quad-core @ 2.93ghz. This should be a slight improvement over my old laptop. :D

Apparently it's waiting for me at home... save for the rackmount server case, which shipped ground from Florida and will be here tomorrow.

Pictures will be provided... once the thing is built, as I'll need something to post them from.

It is assembled. It roars to life. Now I wait for Miz Jen to return home so that I may steal her camera and 'puter. The laptop is currently not shitting itself, for which I am thankful.
