I have been playing GTA4/ELC recently too.

I keep wanting to pickup Demon's Souls, but I know it is going to frustrate me to the point of obsession. It is next on my list though. I have a feeling Wet will not be too far down the road either.

It is incredibly frustrating. I haven't been so frustrated since Stunt Man for PS2.

So steam has a halloween sale on. Will L4D/L4D2 run at all well on my fairly shitty laptop? It runs CS:S/Half Life 2 alright when on the lowest settings.

Hmmm, what is a game I could pirate and play on a Macbook (so nothing super graphic intense or that big so I can DL it quickly for work).

Right now I am thinking of grabbing a copy of Shadowrun or Chrono Trigger on an emulator but I have beaten those like eighty billion times.

Plants Vs. Zombies? I haven't played that one myself, but everyone else i know loves it. My sister runs it on an older Macbook.

ALSO: if the Macbook has Steam installed, they are offering the game for half price-ish, i.e. about $5, for its Zombie/Halloweeniness.

I dunno. I have it and it is more of an online time waster than a game that should cost any sort of money. And even if it was an online game, like on addictinggames, it wouldnt have very good ratings. =/

It is definitely an interesting take on Tower Defense games which I love, but is there really only that one level?

its always the same laned level. But you get more and more plants to defend, and more and more different zombies to defend against... and you have to combine certain plants... yeah... i lost interest very quickly.

Yeah, I couldn't take the same lanes over and over.

I definitely see why a lot of people love it, especially people who aren't "gamers".

Thinking about getting a games console again. Do I get a 360 or PS3? My heart says 360 as I used to have one and liked it, plus all my friends have one.

Well you have to evaluate the tradeoffs.

PS3: comparatively less hardware failure (but tends to brick during new game updates),
no back compatibility,
free online (albeit laggy as fuck for most games),
different more asian lineup of exclusive games (SONY - Its an asian system)
More sports games.
Tiny asian controller.
Has that... ps3... wave your hands with the air traffic controller balls thing...
Soon to have steam store.
Blue ray

Xbox 360: has the new slim (less hardware failure because of new integrated gpu/cpu and different heatsink system),
online costs money (after 3 free trial months) but is not laggy.
Exclusives are more North american oriented (asians did NOT take to the xbox, for a host of strange reasons, like "the controller should weigh as much as water in your hands" "black means death" "X is bad" Srsly, look it up, they came up with the funniest reasons. ).
Different controller (more ergonomic IMO).
Kinect (sales topped 1 million in 10 days. Thats 100k sold per day.)


Personally i'd go with the xbox, but thats just because i prefer the xbox exclusives. And i have NO interest in sportsgames, Capcom is my least favorite game company, and i feel that blue ray is a complete waste of money, and i will never rent or buy a blueray disk.
The ONLY thing pulling me towards PS3 is M.A.G., but who knows how that will be.

If i were to buy a sony product, i'd buy a PS2. It had all the best games. . Fuckin Zone of the Enders, Front Mission, Onimusha 2, Tenshu Wrath of the Assassin, Shadow of the Colossus, AW YEAH.

Nice detailed write-up I also have no interest in sports or capcom games and I've never been a huge fan of the ps controller but it is useable.. we have a bluray player downstairs which currently only gets used as a (very nice) dvd player as we have no blurays

I was looking at the new 360 Slim as it looks very nice plus has all the proper hdmi output etc. Integrated wifi and proper aux audio outputs as well. Is 4gb hdd enough though? I have no idea how much I'd actually use just for one gamertag and some arcade games
