Night of a Thousand Bros. The band was, of course, utterly excellent. The crowd was oddly full of bros, metalheads, and industrialists. The opening acts were two of the worst bands I've ever heard. Moshing ensued. Damned all ages shows. I just want to have a drink and enjoy musik, not be run into by teenagers. /curmudgeon |

Industrialists as in rivetheads or industrialists as in robber barons? 'Cause the latter would be pretty sweet. When I saw them last, Angelspit opened, and they were awful. Bad industrial karaoke that I think seemed more concerned with hawking the lady "singer"'s line of eyeshadow to gothgrrls than not being an utterly terrible live act. Thankfully they were from Australia and can stay there among the marsupials and monotremes. KMFDM however are kickass. |

Also, "among the marsupials" would make a splendid album title. |

I've been really amused the times I've seen Opeth; the kiddies'll all be moshing and then BAM! Pinkfloydy break out of fucking nowhere and they're really confused as to what to do. At one of the aforementioned shows I witnessed an obnoxious drunk bro being a one-man moshpit get decked for his trouble by an eighteen-year-old girl. That being said, I'd love to see these guys at a show moshing it up or doing the industrial stomp:

That would be the best mosh pit to ever exist. Mostly rivetheads. Thought, there was one gentleman in a fine tophat. And with that, I bid adieu. Be excellent to each other among the marsupials. |

So like, I had no idea that they had recently released a new album. I am obtaining it as we speak. Also, tomorrow I am seeing them at the Phoenix. |

I am going to have to listen to it again to come up with my true feelings on it. First track is one of those self referencing songs ("KMFDM, doin' it again...") but it's not that great IMO. There was a couple songs with some new vibes and sounds. So so far I think it's not as forgettable as other releases they did in the past decade. Reviews I've read talk about how they've come out of some auto-pilot slump for this one, and I suppose that may be. But autopilot or not, BLITZ is IMO one of the best releases they've done and nothing on WTF?! grabbed me like those tracks did. |

Huh. I'll make a point of acquiring this. I get the autopilot thing, but they can be hit-or-miss. I suppose it comes with having a ton of albums. The mid-late '90s was their most consistent period IMO; Angst, Nihil, Xtort and Symbols was a good run of quality stuff. Re: Blitz, I'd say my favorites off there are Strut and the cover of Being Boiled. Those are pretty fantastich. |

Show was pretty awesome. Instead of a mixture of industrial subcultures gathering it was basically nerdy white kids. I heard some folks say before that Lucia lip syncs, but that certainly wasn't the case. It was the case though, for one of the opening bands ("Army of the Universe"... pretty boy frontman is dancing around and forgets to put the mic in front of his face as some vocals come out of the PA) She brought it. Also, there was some fucking awesome double bass in Potz Blitz. Captain K has a cool trigger instrument that involves boing boing springs. For unforeseen reasons beyond my control though, I had to leave before the second encore. Sardo, do you recall what songs they played for the second encore? |

Lucia was very much live when I saw them. There's not even a whole lot of programming/backing tracks going on; they're mostly just playing it as far as I can tell. I'm not sure what's in their racks synth-wise but Lucia and The Kap'n are definitely manipulating stuff in realtime. They had some Quasimidi controllers when I saw them. Even without knowing the setlist, I'd guess the missed encore might be Megalomaniac, Juke Joint Jezebel or Drug Against War?

I was present for Drug Against War, as I was also I believe for Megalomaniac. I am sure I missed Juke Joint Jezebel, and it annoys the piss out of me. I find myself wondering what the hell that little thingie Lucia plays with is. It looks like a little CB radio, with the antennae. |

Alas, I do not. I left before they came back for the encore due to my clothes being soaked with (other people's) sweat. |

I suppose my tolerance for stranger filth is higher. This short stout girl was grinding her ass against my thigh. She had a good amount of force in those hips. Apparently their last songs were Day of Light and Godlike (fuuuuuuuuu). |
