One of my best friends is friends with a "celebrity" and she wants guitar lessons from me due to my buddy giving her a good word about my playing. I just talked to her and she wants to learn the obvious basics. Help me get started with ideas pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. |

Probably the biggest thing will be finger strength and callouses then. The hardest part about staring from scratch, and the reason that most people quit, is how hard it is to fret the strings, and how painful it is with no callouses. First thing is probably to make sure she has a guitar that is comfortable. Like a nylon string or something. Also, folks do it, but it is definitely difficult for some women to start because their nails are too long. That is more something to look for when you see her play. If she has long nails and can fret with them, no big deal, but if it looks like she is twisting her fingers all around trying to get the string down on account the tip of the nail being too long, it might be something to bring up. Other than that, basic chords are probably first in line. She may not actually want much more than that, who knows. |

I would teach all the "standard" open chords then maybe more popular alternative versions, like the ones with sus4 and stuff in the name (I don't understand chord names/theory  )If all else fails.. SIIHP and hope she's into that. |
