Tell me why. Is it like a Dream Theater thing? Like a "they are such good musicians!" sort of thing?

That, but it also has a vibe I can jive with. |

I have listened through that first record a pile of times now, but for all of everyone's ability, none of the songs seem to go any place? I can't tell if i am turned off some some smaller part of their sound and am missing something good in it though. I do however applaud them for not having vocals. But that is because, the way they sound, i feel like they would look for a really terrible vocalist.

I like one song from them. I definitely like them more than periphery though. Tosin or whatever his name is is a respectable guitarist. |

They played here a few weeks back; I almost went out of curiosity, but... yeah, no, 'cause I'm sure I would have had to drink through horrible things and then find my way home. The vocalist from Periphery, I think, is awful. I can't stand the timbre of his voice. Just... eeew, that is a particular vocalnoise that really grates on me (and I like some not-conventionally-pleasant voices for sure), and he has it in spades. I'm with Chris on this. I want to like this, in that it's a different take on things, and I am cool with the meandering, but... If I want to see good musicians, I'll go to the symphony, as I am wont to do, and I know what they're playing is good shit. Maybe it's a perspective thing and we're just officially Old Now? |
