Oh my God, I don't even know what to say. His music is simply amazing. Wonderfully cosmic, ethereal, spiritual, transcendent, it speaks to my soul. His music is my soul embodied. It's great, check him out. I'm blown away. If their is a heaven, his music is what I want it to be like. |

Halfway through the first one, I'm actually enjoying this. I never really listen to this sort of thing but I should. |

I'm really only familiar with him by name off the top of my head, and that he's of the "sacred minimalist" school. My preferences run toward romanticism and expressionism generally. I do like the first piece quite a bit. |

Also, are you familiar with Górecki's Symphony no. 3 Symphony Of Sorrowful Songs? The record of it from the early '90s actually went platinum, which is ridiculous for a contemporary orchestral piece! (And one that's not a film soundtrack, either.) It is, I have to warn you, super-dark; mostly strings and voice (the recording you're likely to hear has Dawn Upshaw as the vocal soloist and she's famous a little. At least, in the classical world.) with some bits of woodwinds, horns and trombones for texture behind the string section. At no point does it ever get up there in rockingness; it stays soft throughout. It is very beautiful though. |
