There are two girls singing show tunes, a guy blasting Phantom of the Opera on his computer and an asshole tap dancing (with tap shoes) in the hallway outside the classroom I am in.

The professor is about to lose his shit on them, I really hope he does.

I imagine they would have the most obnoxious kind of personality.

They really do.

The best part is, it is the no-talent douchebags who are the most obnoxious. I know a couple of theatre actors here at CCU who have been the leads in a bunch of plays who are really awesome. But, then you have the girls who have only ever had one or two lines who think they are musical stars.

Yes. It is a major that encourages behaviors highly likely to result in the receivings of murderkillings.

On the onesies, they can be okay, but put them in a crowd, or even worse, in a crowd, PLUS a couple more of their type, and murderkilling urges are sure to arise in the hearts and minds of bystanders.

My high school/magnet school for junior and senior years had a theatre major. Luckily, they were in a different "school" and thus we never went on trips or traveled with them. My lady was not so lucky.

On a bus trip to NYC she was on the bus with the theatre kids, who wanted to watch Sweeney Todd ... so they could sing along to the entire musical.

I believe they watched it twice.








If I had been so lucky to be on that bus, I am almost certain I would have been sent into a rampage until every last one of them was silenced or dead.

Oh, and in response to the title of this thread, for realz, one should avoid that.

It is not quite as bad as dating dance majors, but still, pretty bad.

And neither should be allowed to find themselves in a situation where they might reproduce, purposefully, or accidentally.

I dated a dance major back in the day. She was flexible

But also insane.



















And so we are sitting in this lecture when we hear a guy (sounded black) yell, "SHUT THE FUCK UP" in the hallway.

No more singing, no more music and no more tap dancing. Life is good again, and we all got a laugh out of it.

"Okay, you want to act Sweeney Todd out, bitches? Lets go. Brought my meat grinder and everything."

Now, I heart my theater-peeps. I've always had a peripheral-to-active association with that group. The problem isn't the theater, it's the geek-fandom aspect and the inherent social unawareness bred by such.

That and they have a strange affection for Glee, even when they should know better.

They're easier to take when they're in their 30s.

But see above. I have no problem with quoting or singing along to everything. I do it myself, and have been known to engage in social geekactivities where this is done. In private. It basically just comes down to "don't be a dick". Like the dude blasting bad commercial hiphop on his cellphone (Seriously? Gots no bass, cracka! No booty-shake! Get some headphones.) on the bus. Quit being a dick about it.

This would be acceptable as real-life-trolling were it done with any sort of conscious awareness.

Yarr, one of my most favorite humans is a shakespearean actor.

Also: actual working actors are generally much better.

The bad ones, are usually highschool students and college freshmen. Full of hyperactive vitality and loud projecting voice, not yet tempered by the soulcrushing truths of the seeking(in almost infinitely greater amounts than the acquiring) of anything remotely approaching a livable and sustainable existence as an actor or actress out in Realityville.

I would still not advise dating *any* of them though.

Nor would I, from experience. I have at least three in my hall of shame. And I almost married the opera singer.

This makes me glad to be a science major knowing all those kind of people are about half a mile away from me.
