Ah, yes, the rapture. One of many things that people erroneously think are in The Bible. That one dates to the 1800s, if I'm remembering right.

Other things that aren't in The Bible: Hell (Sheol, Gehenna and Hades, yes- the latter taken directly from the Greek many New Testament books were written in, likely in place of Sheol; the other two being of Hebrew origin and not meaning Hell). Totally made up later on. Satan as rebellious angel? Mostly John Milton. God helps those who help themselves? Benjamin Franklin. Spare the rod, spoil the child? British, 1600s. Etc.

One would think that what IS in the Bible would be hilarious enough for all. So much silly stuff.

Really, it has only one fucking useful rule in it at all, and in classic fashion, it is the one bit that folks consistently choose to ignore when it comes to actually how they live their lives.

'Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself', just lacks that certain massmurder/childrape/enslavement/spousal abuse sort of charm that the other biblical rules and parables do so well. It is no wonder it is less popular than its flashier, racier, more violent, brethren. Motherfuckers should have spiced it up with some sort of admonition to pillage, mutilate, or shun... something.
