Call your state representatives and tell them what's what. Plenty of info about SOPA and PIPA online, and there are even some resources for talking points to bring up when writing/calling your reps.

SOPA is written in a dangerously vague manner, and is worded in a way that implies a general lack of knowledge about content-sharing technology and the Internet as a whole. The people who wrote it obviously do not know what they are trying to police, and their plans for enforcement would be nearly impossible, harsh and undoubtedly expensive.

Not to mention it's fucking with the Internet, and no one should fuck with the Internet.

Already have. As soon as I heard about SOPA I did some research on it and decided it was a bunch of bullshit, so I called my friendly local representative and told him exactly what I thought about it.

Nobody fucks with the Internet. In Soviet Amerika, the Internet fucks you. :dildo:

And thank you, sir, for pointing out the wiki back door. :eekass: It's nice to know they installed one. I'm not surprised by this.

I find it incredibly ironic something created initially by the US military is now the chief agent of the free flow of information around the planet and has started to aid invaluably in taking down governments. It is where the real news is. (Why am I thinking of Megadeth here? )

I'll resist the urge to wax philosophical. Money is power, but knowledge is freedom. Pandora has spread her filthy box and ain't no one gonna close this bitch down. :red:

It's kind of like that time we built robots to be our servants and they became self aware and began to wage war upon their oppressors!

There goes the fucking internet. The only place where people can find something resembling freedom. Close the gates and prepare for war... it's going to get ugly for anyone resembling a decent citizen.

In a way I support/dont support it. Ill be on the computer less if it goes through which will make me more productive but the government also wins, again, which I dont support.

Well, I meant I support the blackout of websites in reaction to SOPA.

I support nothing about this policy. It is government fascism in support of corporate interests. It is much that is wrong with society.

"Source within Anonymous: More than 27,000 computers involved in DOJ attack. "Average ppl participating in DDOS attack from living rooms"

Lesson to the US government: DON'T FUCK WITH THE INTERNET, IT FIGHTS BACK.

They're like fierce warriors, fighting for the truth! Except they get to stay home and consume Chee-Tos and be safe and feel l33t instead of fearing death.

Post subject:  Re: Wikipedia & SOPA

Oh they have worse fears than death, TBH... according to the government, any organized attack on a government computer can and will be considered an act of terrorism and they'll get sent to Guantanamo Bay for the rest of their lives if they're caught.

BTW, that just reeks of Constitutional right violation to me... right to revolution? Fuck no. We have no fucking rights. They're fucking privileges that the government takes away at their leisure.

/rage rant.

SOPA got pulled. I guess I spoke too soon. I've scarcely been happier about being wrong.

If you guys are worried about SOPA and PIPA check out ACTA. Not only is it very similar it's not even being debated, written, or negotiated by elected representatives.
