Those work too. Lateralus, I can't help but associating with reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods with three feet of snow on the ground. Opeth in general sounds like things that are not warm. |

Tool reminds me of going to the top of piuma rd and smoking fat bong loads at 6 am before a rock climb while watching the sun rise. God I love Tool. |

Call of the Ktulu reminds me of winter for some reason. Also any Wintersun song, lulz. |

Usually something that sounds like summer, but has depressing vocal or lyrical elements to it. This year: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes. It is a recurring theme i seem to have grown for myself through many years of small decisions to interpret things and respond to them differently than what i perceived to be the expected/normal interpretations and responses. Perspective as a moving target or something. Now i am basically stuck with it as simply the way that i see and respond to everything. I am not very easily capable of accepting that things are what they are, but rather continually finding it impossible to avoid asking myself if it is possible that they *might* be exactly the opposite, if i came at the situation from the other side of the room. That said, my music choices for winter are a little more about allowing myself to be cranky about the cold shittiness of winter, while reminding myself more or less continually, that it gets much better once the season passes. Now... the reason i listen to the Ventures Christmas Album, in July, is a bit more about just being contrary and asshollic.

Seeing this really tripped me out. I have been blasting this thing so much it's ridiculous, it's been my primary source of musical inspiration the last couple months. That and Pet Sounds are pretty much the reason I decided to start fucking with keyed instruments. For me, these are things that sound cold, dark, foggy and/or wintery (depressing): Even though I began listening to this during the summer and in Alaska it always made me think of being outside during a wet, cold Washington winter. Something about the textures and harmonies just triggers it in my brain. |

beyond the north waves is the quintessential winter song for me. |
