Ya know how sometimes just that one song off of whichever album you might be rocking lately and/or perpetually just stands out as "the one" somedays? Post that shit. Unless I am the only person who experiences such things. :red:

Funny how in the beginning it was Ian's songs/voice that mostly got me into Fugazi, but Guy has ended up my favorite member.

I totally get that. I'm usually an album listener but sometimes I'm compelled to listen to a lot of something on repeat. I don't have one today though.

That song is awesome and Guy Picciotto is the king of everything in that band(or rather: the finest element out of a pile of really fine elements), IMO.

Today my song will be this one i think:

It/they is/are scary genius shit. There's not really a weak link to be found. Finest punk rhythm section that my ears have heard, as well as two of the finest frontmen. Originally I just had End Hits in Alaska since you recommended it to me which is very Guy-centric which I didn't really know at the time, I just attributed most of it to MacKaye as he is more often talked about. But as I got the other albums I began to realize the pair's places in guitarduo action bullshit, with Picciotto laying down these weird, jangly overdriven melodies or rhythmic stabs over MacKaye's more conservative power chords. Also, hearing particularly the Fugazi EP half of 13 Songs since it is ALL Ian made me realize how much less... eccentric? of a guitar player Ian is. He's a great punk riff writer but I can see it was mostly Piccioto pushing them towards the Red Medicine/End Hits/The Argument weirdness.

Question re: Fugazi- if I wanted to spend some real time with them vs. being peripherally familiar, where should I start, knowing what you do of my tastes?

I would say Red Medicine, End Hits, Or The Argument.

That is in the order they came out.

Red Medicine has some interesting noises and textures. The Argument maybe(i am not really fully decided) has the best production of the three. End Hits has some good tunes and is sort of kind of sonically between the other two.

My favorite is Red Medicine. But the other two have been growing on me a lot over the years.

^That. But the older albums are worth exploring. Especially In On The Killer Taker and 13 Songs. Steady Diet has a couple of my favorites as well. They're all pretty much great, but have varying appeal depending upon taste.

Oh, and I must ask Chris: What are your thoughts on Repeater?

I don't know, for whatever reason, i have listened the least to that record of all of them. But i don't really know why, because when i do listen to it, it strikes me as a really huge step from the "old fugazi" into the "new fugazi". Which makes sense because it was the first to feature much song input from Guy really.

But really, it is a record i should listen to more often. I am pretty sure i like it better than 13 Songs, for instance.

I think my not listening to it has more to do with other shit from that time that hearing the record reminds me of or something. :idk:

I seem to be listening to this on a daily basis at the minute. I want to edit a biking video to it, just need to gather footage first :red:

My song for today is related to the discussion from yesterday:

Which may well be my favorite from Repeater.

And the intro to which i just recently realized is basically this:

In a drunken interpretation sort of way.

God, I prefer the original so much to the Gary Jules/Donnie Darko version. I love that movie more than should be allowed but I never got people going crazy over that song.. Gayboring.

Oh, and: My favorite Repeater track is Sieve-Fisted Find. Dat intro riff.

Today I had a 5+ hour train journey from deepest darkest scotland back to mancunia which took me on a slightly bizarre trip trough my MP3 players contents, largely because I haven't updated it in a good year  I had a medium hangover too so I started out reasonably mellow until I shook it off

Neurosis - The eye of every storm
Neurosis - A sun that never sets
Sleep - dopesmoker {BAST TRAIN MUSIC}
Ufomammut - Idolum
Pig Destroyer - Natasha
Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer

I nearly got old man gloom -zozobra/seminar III in but I didnt have enough journey left and to turn that song off before the solo has ripped is criminal.
