So I just found out about this girl, and surprisingly, I like her music a lot. She has a good sound. Like drugs and sexytime. I also thought the SNL performance that everyone seems to hate on was just fine, imperfect but fine.
Ah I can't, I'm at school right nao. Just google, you'll find plenty of songs and also a whole lot of talk. Apparently she's some sort of controversial 'it' girl or something, at the moment.

Re: Lana Del Ray
Interesting. My response to her is different depending on whether i can see her or not.
With just the studio tracks playing, i kind of like it, much better than 99% of what comprises money-backed pop music these days. And even sits reasonably well next to much of the retro-happy neo-"good ole style" moneybacked pop of folks like adele and amy winehouse.
But when confronted with the visuals of her in the videos and live stuff, i find it (weirdly) unpleasant. Like before i went and read anything about her, it struck me that she appeared about the same level of "daddy buy me a record deal" as like rebecca black. But with like better music/lyrics. Now, i couldn't say why that was the vibe i got at all, as i don't usually go there, but on reading up a bit more, it sounds not terribly far from the truth of it. Which is to say nothing of how it sounds, just that i think it is fucking weird that something about the presentation set that alarm off in my brain.
Other than that it sounds pretty okay to me though.

Oh, and live, she should not be allowed to do anything with her hands. I very rarely respond well to folks who 'gesture out' the lyrics as they sing them, as if the listener can't hear or needs extra visual enlightenment about what is meant by the words, and this lady is like... extra extra bad about it.
That is just totally an insane pet peeve of mine in general with singers though.
Seriously, give that motherfucker guitar with no cable and let them pretend to play it: much less terrible that way.

Yeah I don't know what her story is for sure. Apparently there's been a lot of lies about what she is and what she isn't. Don't really care though. I kind of like her image, it's like she is a parody of pop waste, not in the cute way Ke$ha is, but more in the... er, not even sure.
