When the tiny computer chip in the heart of the machine that allows it to balance itself, fails, the faceplants and ghostrides will be impressive/fantastic/messy.

 I really shouldn't be laughing at that, but I am. Or, rather, no, I should be laughing at that, so I am.

.... and it shall be named "Impending Death"

OF course I like it for population control. There should be more devices that add a little life threat to things. And fuck you, it's my life, let me not wear a seatbelt if I don't want to. (I do anyway)

Sounds like a local metal band name.

The only time I don't wear my seatbelt, ironically, is riding with my bassist in his cop car. And only because it's locked in place and I don't know how to deploy it. Apparently no one cares as none of the cops wear theirs. (The rationale for which I totally get, too- they have a large amount of awkward equipment strapped to their waist and may have to get out of the car very very quickly, a "damned if you do" sort of situation.) Otherwise I've always been very scrupulous about it as I'm paranoid. My ex categorically refuses to because of an accident her mother was in that her mom only survived because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

That being said, I'm perfectly fine with allowing others to endanger themselves. Simply on the "you're responsible for your own actions" principle. The point at which it becomes a threat to others, that's where I draw the "look, asshole..." line. Otherwise- informed consent.
