The lady and I landed a real serious-type gig for real serious-type money, which required a new serious-type piece of hardware:

Image

27.5" screen runnin' at 1440ppi or whatever, high fucking resolution
3.4ghz New Gen i7
8gb Ram
2Gb Radeon Vid Card
1TB HDD

It's our new office computer. It is also going to be my new recording workhorse

That is my 17" laptop and our 20" TV for size reference.

I need to get a new desktop to compensate .... :fag:

Graphics are its main function (cannot wait to do game assets in Illustrator on this thing), but hey its more powerful than my laptop which does sound just fine.

This is the wife's new animation station.

I am still antimac, but 27"-ish screens are the biz, IMO, about as close to ideal-sized for computerring as is possible. That is about the maximum that i would want to be 2-3 feet away from for extended periods of time. Any larger and you are too close to it for it to be all that useful, what with actually having to move your head to go from one corner of the screen to the opposite. For tedious graphicking, that will fuck your neck/back up pretty good after a couple weeks/months.

27"-ish though, is massive and perfect.

Creating a 3-minute motion infographic for a company in Florida who wants to get high school kids to seek higher education be it apprenticeship or four-year degree.

Similar to that video she did for her senior gallery when we graduated a couple months back.

I promised the wife I wouldn't talk numbers, but it is a bunch of money. Well, a bunch for two post-grads starting their own new-media production studi0.
