Drums sound wonderful. Guitars sound like SoP. First time I've ever enjoyed when they do the 'symphony and death metal' thing... |

The whole "symphony and death metal thing", perhaps, Chris?

No, i have no particular beef with that. I can try to elaborate, though i was trying to be "nice" and not talk too much smack about something other folks like. But. I think i am getting overtired of supposedly aggressive bands putting out records that are so clean that it makes blastbeats and growls sound practically radiofriendly. And i am getting tired of drumtracks that are practically just 32nds straight through for 90% of the tunez, only with pauses for the ambient "serious music" interludes, or occasional half paced bits. And the fact that the song is almost nine minutes long, and bored the shit out of me almost as bad as Animals As Leaders or something. It is a combination of things, but i think the AAL element might be what runs through mostly. Like: these guys are immensely capable and skilled musicians. But. I don't know how they could possibly make a more dull sound (compared to what i want from heavy music) with their skills. Everything has been smoothed over and editperfected. All of the sounds are completely crispy, even the fucking vocal. In short, violent music, IMO, should make me want to destroy things. This music doesn't. This music makes me want to set up a metronome in Reaper and see how fast the dudes' blasts are. And what mode the guitarists are utilizing most. Like: shit that doesn't really matter. Because, as my brain goes with it, i guess this music doesn't really matter to me. |

The guitars do not sound edited to me. Especially after seeing them live. But they are not loud enough. This style of music should have barely any vocals and tons of everything else, IMO. The vocals are the least entertaining aspect of the music. Although I enjoy their old wall of fizz tone much more than this. I do not know why. This is basically that tone but low passed. |

As much as I dig Cabinet, I have to agree that was boring as fuck. But I don't get along with Noctambulant, and this is definitely even further in that direction. |

I lurves me some tech death but this cd is really "notey" in a "wanky" fashion. And Cabinet it ain't. |

Still hating? The orchestral thing was just for the final track. |
