Re: The "What Are You Drinking?" Thread!
That sucks man. It's not even acceptable as like, 'lite porter'?
I've been drinking mad Coors Light lately. Trying to get slim, and obviously drinking more beer at a lower percent is how it gets done.

nah, it didn't ferment well either leaving a slight unwanted sweetness. Maybe I could buy some IPA and have an epic black and tan? Moving is quickly leaving me broke

Re: The "What Are You Drinking?" Thread!
I went back and picked this guy up, as he was still on sale for a whopping ten buxx a liter: Smoove, yo. Which it had better be, considering it's a bit under-proof. Good, though; not sickly sweet, and it still tastes like a whiskey and not a honey liqueur. Not that honey liqueurs are bad, mind you; Krupnik is fantastisch. I've had a whole two glasses of whiskey this week, which is more whiskey than I've had in like the past year. Would totally pay more than ten dollars for this, as it's marked down from closer to $40. To Geoff: I've had some narsty hangover juice in my time, but nothing with the effects of said bumwine. That almost has me curious just to see what it would do, but I think I'm a bit old and respectable for that sort of thing now. Isn't Domestic Lager In A Can still too close to food, calorie-wise? Obviously pure grain alcohol is the answer there. Wood alcohol might do in a pinch- sight is overrated and you weren't using those organs anyway.

Re: The "What Are You Drinking?" Thread!
Inorite? The Olde Mann who used to own the printing company I worked at back in the HCAF days is on the board of, and allows much of his collection of vintage printing equipment to be used by, a local arts organization that has a building in downtown Buffalo right across the street from where I usually catch the bus home. It's available for use to anyone, and I've thought if I were to do vinyl for whatever reason, that is where I'd make the sleeves, by hand. I think that would be hella strong badass, vinyl with hand-printed sleeves. Probably a break-even proposal at best, but as a means of pimping one's band, unfuckwithable. At least, to the Right Sort Of People.

That'll be my drink of choice for the weekend I think, I've had far too much beer recently so smirnoff mixed with something girly will sort me out

Yarr, more o' the cephalopod beverage: Its tenticular might crushes other rums, which it devours with its chitinous beak. Or something. We're running low, though, and we've talked about picking up a fifth of this guy: The boozestore where I snagger'd the Bushmills has the above Captain on sail fer fifteen a fifth, and I think that's cheap enough to merit a trial, no? Considering Captain is generally stupid overpriced anyhow...

ThT sounds like good reason to try it. I am on a wine kick right now. The little lady has some weird allergy things she has dropped. Lot of weight so we are trying organic no sulfite wines

Got these for my dad when he visited, because he says he only likes the wheat beers, but he only had one. Now he is back home in IL, and i think maybe he doesn't actually like beer at all, so the rest are clearly mine: Not bad, for a US brewer's version of a Hefeweisen of the Weihenstephaner/banana notes style.

Wild Turkey... and Buffalo Trace.
Bourbon is the name of the game lately.

Re: The "What Are You Drinking?" Thread!
Geoff, I miss'd your mention of Buffalo Trace. That's good shit. If you can get your hands on some Elijah Craig 12 Year, it is not only reasonably priced (at least in The States, for a single-batch bourbon; it's like $30 for a fifth/.75l) but delicious. Butterscotch notes. Chris, an old friend of mine who's a chemistry professor in yer vague neck of the woods mentioned this exists: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/restaurants/blog/2015/01/06/narragansett-creates-h-p-lovecraft-line-beers/ I figger'd this might be relephant to yer interests.

Re: The "What Are You Drinking?" Thread!
Old Fashioned are lovely, though I take mine with bourbon. And the cherry. If you want to see real abuse of cherries, have a Manhattan at a punkrawk dive bar that has no bitters. It's... Bourbon-and-stuff, definitely, but a Manhattan it ain't.

Re: The "What Are You Drinking?" Thread!
aw man.. i tried a 'dry manhattan' of my own devices last week. all we had was dry vermouth from the martini locker.. :P blech. nasty.
y'know.. i just don't like vermouth, i think.
i'll make old fashioneds with whatever's around-- had some nice sazerac rye, and that made a bang up OF, but i'll use bulleit too.. i kinda like the drier rye-- especially with blood orange bitters (which are kinda sweet) AND angostura, which i've been using. straight bitters in the bourbon ones is good though.
i gotta make up some simple syrup outa some demerarra sugar!
