Apparently there are 18, 20, 21 and 23-year versions of this stuff, or were, if one is willing to pay the price. I don't know if any are currently available... new? As in recently released vs. whatever the whiskey version of NOS is. Either way the 12 is mightyfine. I've seen some of the older ones in the past, but I haven't had. I suppose if I have money to burn someday I should.

Been enjoying a bit of these way more dry types of proper ciders lately:

Image

These dooryard ones are especially cool, they make them with all of the funky/oddball apples that they don't fit their other established cider flavors. Has a number on the bottle through which you can trace the particular lineage of what is in the specific bottle. So far i have tried #1421 and now this, #1403.

1421 was excellent, split it with my sister and brother-in-law.

1403, i am finding less fantastic, but still interesting enough. Essentially, this one just kind of tastes like regular grape-based wine to me, which a lot of the proper ciderapple ciders seem to do to some degree anyhow, but this one in particular...

A present to myself for surviving another semester of being edumacated properly:

This is a Tennessee sour mash whiskey, not a bourbon. It's also far more refined than the usual representative of the species (black label Jack Daniel's) despite actually being cheaper. Both this and the Elijah Craig are very reasonably priced considering they're twelve years old. You can track these down for under $30 USD for a fifth. Try doing that with any 12-year scotch. (By which I don't mean the bottle of Cutty Sark that's been in your uncle's basement for the past twelve years.)

Definitely have been continuing to lean towards a different flavor of cider of late:

Much much drier than my past taste for the stuff.

A friend of mine recommended this, so i got some:

Supposedly it is actually beer, but you would never guess it from tasting it. It just straight up tastes like root beer soda. Even the carbonation is fizzly thin in a very non-beer way. It is good, but super sweet, and super dangerous, because i drink soda way faster than i drink beer. This shit could mess me up for sure.

Would make a crazydelicious rootbeer float though.

While I am not a root beer fan myself, I know plenty of people who are, and who would appreciate this. :nods: I'll be sure to mention the warning.

According to the brewer's web site, it's 10% ABV (unlike the photo? Wonder if that's for places that demand weak beer by law?) which would certainly not be the wisest thing to slam the whole six pack of in short order.

They make three grades: 5.9%, 10%, and 19.5%.

Any one of them would be dangerous due to its soda-like huff-ability. One could easily put one's eye out with the 20% though.

Bought on the strengths of its label's aesthetics, and the fact that i like old man beers, the narragansett lager being one of the sweller ones regionally:

Image

'sokay, kind of like a slightly less tasty version of the Founders All Day IPA. Mid-to-low alcohol content, kind of hoppy but not OTT about it. Prolly won't get it again.

Alex and I have drank this atleast half of the days of the past year. :red: If you were to ask me what my favorite beer was, it would be this.

I've invented a new drink.

A shot and a half of cheap brandy, and then pour a bottle of pumpkin spiced ale on top.

I call it the Pumpkin Patch. It's not bad.

Little things like this help us cope with the fact that we farted the summer away.

I don't believe I've had. My digestive tract gets angry at me for harsh beverages now that I'm old, so smooth is relevant. There is certainly a gap between good vodka, which is smooth enough to drink neat and mixes with pretty much anything, and not-so-good vodka, which is a cleaning product and industrial solvent. In cocktails, or on its own?
