When I head home I shall be looking for new muzickz. I would like some recommendations from you folks. Feel free to throw anything at me that you wish, but specifically I am looking for:
Bright, shiny happy indie pop music (I'm looking at you, Devin) Sludgy superpissed hardcore/ grind Punk stuff of the ilk that you gents know I enjoy

I'm liking The Chariot at the minute. Poasted a couple of tracks in the "watchoo listening to" thread. As for indie-ish stuff I have been listening to The Smiths a bit trying to get past Morriseys voice. I quite like the music behind it and can sort of tolerate Morrisey.
Ah yes, I was quite into The Chariot when I was in 9th grade. Norma Jean and The Chariot were totally my kinda shit, still dig that stuff too. Will have to check out what they have been up to since then.

Re: I need sounds, feed me.
I will have to think about things i haven't already poasted.
I do like a fairly large amount of happier music i rarely mention though. What sorts of happy/poppy do you tend to lean towards when you hear it?

I have been digging this, not exactly what you are asking for but it's fucking good

I think Beatles-inspired stuff that I'm sure there is plenty of would probably be pleasing to my ears? Probably on a case to case basis though. Weird euphoricyetsortoffrantic stuff like St. Vincent tends to do with more happy sounds are things I like. Probably not anything that would be called "normal" pop music, but more like it's insane meth railing cousin? Lots of weird textures and noises that would probably annoy other people.
Also, more classic stuff that I have not heard would be intriguing. As you know, I quite love The Beach Boys, so something along those lines would interest me.

Re: I need sounds, feed me.
I made a-quick-off-th-top-o'-me-head-list and it rapidly hit thirty six items, so i will have to sort though and see what in it might be moast useful.
For starters though, some random shit that you should absolutely have(though not really what you asked for, just things you should have hoid).
If you need phone-happy linx still i can edit them in.
Some kind of punk stuff:
(get orange, see if you like it.)
(get double nickels on the dime, see if you like it.)
(get inflammable material, see if you like it.)
Some random odds/ends:
(try runners four, or reveille, see if you like it.)
You kind of need to listen to this whole thing, because it is a bit odd and all over the place:
The other Ween records are also all over the place, and i would suggest the Mollusk and the 12 Golden Country Hits as a further sampling:
You may already know some/all of that stuff though?

Some rock stuff, you might not be into at all:
Flavour of thin lizzy in the guitars you might dig in this one, though.
That record Navy Blues is pretty solid, but my favorite of theirs it probably the more beatles-flavored One Chord To Another.) This is a random one from that rekkid:
If you don't have any Pavement, you should at least czech some:
(i might like Wowee Zowee the most, but most folks would aim you towards Slanted & Enchanted, or Crooked Rain, or Brighten The Corners. This band was a massivebig part of my growings up, so i personally do not feel that one can go wrong with any of them. )
Guided By Voices are a strange all-over-the-place rockband, which tends to have lots of short awesome popsongs that don't sound exactly like popsongs a lot of the time:
I like almost everything they have recorded. If you don't hate the sounds of those, try Alien Lanes, Bee Thousand, and/or Vampire On Titus(though this is definitely the worst sounding of the pile, recording quality-wise) for places to start. You might hate the sound of them though, i dunno.

I think i am just going to continue to generally shit videos on this thread, and then you can just listen through as you wish and see if anything doesn't suck.
Some grind-ish biz:
Fastrock:
This rip is too quiet, but the toonz are kooky:
Some slowrock:
(this is very much an acquired taste, and takes for fucking ever to even get going)

I had a feeling that you would dig that. A friend of mine sent me that not too long ago.
You should generally check out whatever you can of theirs.
Oh, and now you are back on a real computer, you can probably listen to this too:
Going back through this thread as I just remember it. Chris, you hooked me up with two bands that have provided invaluable influence to my own writing, and for that I thank you.
Also, mining this fucker for sounds again.

Re: I need sounds, feed me.
This shit is classic rawk at this point, but I am feeling uncreative at the moment, so Eat These Noises:
Their guitarist, Daniel Ash, is a big influence of mine.
They did a version of this with NIN a few years back. It's cool, but the original version from thirty years ago rawks harder. (BTW, you did hear that NIN reformed with Adrian Goddamn Belew on guitar?)
You are familiar with the first punk band, right?
Should I mention The Birthday Party or The Cramps? Also, I do believe I've pointed out Big Black and The Jesus Lizard in the past, but that's veering off past Bauhaus into even more fucked up territory. The Rapeman and Shellac rekkids are good for more Albini. Shellac sounds damn near glossy in an ugly sort of way.
