A couple of me as King Diamond for a Halloween set. Apparently nobody caught video (One of only two cover sets that was the case for over the whole weekend. Grumble.)

Someone on Reddit posted vids from a live Cryptopsy cover set from what I assume was the same show.

I assume this because I recognized musicians from NYDF, such as the drummer from Parasitic Extirpation, whom I know you know.

Come to think of it some of these guys were filling in for members of Internal Bleeding when they were here recently with Suffocation.

Is there like a bunch of extremely skilled and flexible metal musicians in your area who can jam just about anything they want?

I haven't played live for so long, I really really want to do even one gig with my own stuff just to see peoples' reaction to it. Those guys I was jamming with flaked out so I'm back to square one advertising again.

For now this is the closest I've come to playing for an audience recently, girlfriend wanted me to send her a video of me playing some soppy fingerpicked stuff so here's a screenshot

Band had a good show this past weekend. Opened for another band's CD release show, totally blew the other band out of the water. Now all their fans have started following us. Best part is the band just got out of high school so most of their fans are our demographic, teenage girls. Our social media started going crazy so we said fuck it and ordered shirts. Set up a band page (https://www.bandpage.com/TheOhWhales) so we can start selling merch. Set it up a couple hours ago and already have some shirt orders.

I can see why, you guys gots live game. Movin' and groovin'. The other band didn't realize they were heading back to school when they put on that show!

Thanks man. Hopefully our next show this coming weds will bring some cool footage that's more than a few seconds long. We put a lot of focus on having a ton of energy on stage.

Energy makes a huge difference to the crowd, I have always been known to bring that to a gig. Playing your instrument is key, but realize like 80% or more of the people that are watching you on stage want to see a show and are not musicians.

Same place, different night. There's a bit of a tradition around here of people forming tribute bands for a Halloween set at the local metal place. This is the third year. Sometimes it's full lineups of bands around here, but most of the time people get together specifically for the band. The King Diamond band was mostly already existing, I just came in for vocals (They're normally a 4-piece black metal band, Orsus)

And yeah, there's a pretty solid base of versatile musicians around here. And Blue (The guy filling in for Internal Bleeding) in particular has a ridiculous work ethic (And is almost always in at least 2 or 3 bands.)

I am fairly certain that is on his resume.

Yeah too bad it wanted to die the whole set. So I sold it to my old shop for exactly what I bought it for and put that towards the Roadster I'm getting tonight.
