Megadeth totally showed up in Chris's list, and that amuses me for some reason.

I probably half-remember... a half-dozen Megadeth songs. Or rather, the main riff from half a dozen Megadeth songs and that would be my ability to still play any of that.

I can't think of Megadeth or MegaDave without thinking of HCAF's fanboi crew anymore.

I have a remarkably effective ability to forget other people's songs. Back in those early days, there were tons of records that i knew from beginning to end how to play. All that is left are some really random ones and a bizarre smattering of additional riffs. For who knows why, a bunch of them happen to be RIP era megadeth. :red:

For whatever reason, i don't have that problem at all. I guess it is partly because liked them a lonnnnng time before i was on the internets, so while i find those HC lads' devotion amusingly OTT, it hasn't affected my own view of the band at all. :idk:

...and I have an equally effective ability to forget how to play my own songs. Especially if I've recorded them. The more effort I put into the production, the less likely I am to be able to play it afterward. :wall:

Though I was a comparatively early intarwebs-user- I want to say 1994?- and I was listening to Megadeth (and a lot of other metal) in the '90s, for whatever reason that association's stuck with me now. I suppose it's part because I... well, didn't really pay attention to them for years; I'd bust out RIP and Countdown about once a year for nostalgia purposes, and then BAM!- Dave Mustaine fanbois appear out of fucking nowhere long after the band was at the height of their success... probably before most of them were even born.

Doooooooooooooood. Tell me about it. The problem got so bad and frustrating that now my filenaming system is totally insane for things i record. Like: "[Date] guitar+effect+effect+amp+cab+mic (tuning, chord progression(wonky fingering reminder))" Which, once filled in, can be as long as a paragraph, and often runs into the max usable character requirements of the OS.

And i STILL don't remember how i played some of the stuff. Or how i got certain insane distortion sounds or fucked up reverbs on older things. :poop:

Lately what has been getting me though, is i will be messing around and write a part and record it. And then the next day, i will realize that it is a part that i wrote eight years ago and forgot how to play, just now it has a different vocal melody or something. :red:

Aye, i think my aol email address dates back to something ridiculous like 1992-3. I guess i mean my arrival in the land of forum douchebaggery. Back in the oald days i moastly just used the computerthing for IRC shit. That stuff used to be so awesome for nerdknowledge. I miss it.
