 recomend knops some music thread... I'm putting off acquiring any PT music for as long as I can and I'm starting super fresh willing to listen to anything.
so i ask you mapz... what albums should i acquire?
already on the list:

everything else on your post was on teh meh side of things... i'll give it a decent listen through later w/ headphones before i make a final decision...

Re: recomend knops some music thread... Anything by The Crystal Method.
The Cure- Pornography, Disintegration, Wish, Bloodflowers. These are superdark but full of really lovely guitaring and bassing. I'd be shocked if PT didn't cite them as an influence. I know Opeth did.
King Crimson- Red, Discipline, Thrak, The Power To Believe
and the first six Black Sabbath albums, if you don't have them already.
If you're feeling really adventurous, some latter-period Tom Waits. Bone Machine, Blood Money, Alice, Real Gone... Warning: you could hate these.
