Re: What i have been doing today...
For some reason i have a few strat pickups here. As it is a USA one, you could probably get a couple of bucks for that also. I wouldn't want to take something that was worth something without giving you dollars for it. As i don't have any dollars right now, IMO, you should hang onto it. If, however you have any junk thats *not* worth anything, i will certainly take that! Anyhoo, today i did several things at once, because occasionally, that is just how i work. Made neck pocket and pickup rout templates for the bizarrely shaped chinese pseudostrat neck i have and the off-shaped tele that i made the other day. Also made a template for cutting a pickguard for the same. Then i routed out all of those things that i made templates for. Then i cut a tele-ish control plate out of a piece of steel bar i have lying around. Also, i cut and routed a Mustang body out of some really cheepo pine leftover from a house repair project i did recently. Just stuck the tele together quicky quick to see if everything is going to fit. Looks like it just might. That pickguard just is a placeholder made out of some 1/8" plywood. The control plate looks shiny because i just got finished shaping it with files and sandpaper, but it is just regular steel, and i expect that it will rust nicely as it ages. I still have to shape the edges of the tele/esquire, but i haven't decided whether i am going to take a little more off the top, like i did with Pinecaster I, or if i am going to stick with the standard sharp edged treetrunk proper tele style body edges. Yarr.

Re: What i have been doing today...
I think that pickguard looks kinda cool ... at least from a distance. How off is that tele? It looks pretty close That looks like some high quality pine for the mustang there

Re: What i have been doing today...
The pickguard does look cool, it is just a bit too thick, IMO. It is actually spraypainted with two hammertone colors, first copper and then a dark grey immediately after: It should go nicely with the control plate once that starts to rust some. I just wish it was more like normal pickguard material thickness instead of 1/8" plywood.

Re: What i have been doing today...
Oh, and as for the manner in which the tele is oddly shaped, it is sort of close, but the way it is off, it would be much more obvious if i put a real fender pickguard on it. The horn is slightly oddshaped, and IIRC, the body is ever so slightly squashed heightwise as well. Just means that it needs a bit of jiggering and rejiggering to get bespoke bits and bobs built for it to hide its freakness.

Re: What i have been doing today...
I think that is actually the color that i am going to paint the Mustang body there. I stumbled across it in an experiment a while back, and i like it a lot. In person, the way that the reddish copper peaks through the darker gunmetal grey is pretty slickly.

Re: What i have been doing today...
You could probably do it with some copperplating foil from a craft store. That would be pretty badass actually. You would just have to clearcoat the shit out of it so that it wouldn't turn your arm green when you played it.

Re: What i have been doing today...
I think the tele would be perfect for the Maplitonian Army to redirect lasers to their enemy.
