Well, i have like three different strat-style 25.5" scale necks here, probably one or two of them will actually be usable in a guitar. So i was thinking, i don't need a strat. I don't want a 25.5" Mustang. Hmm. I could work with a Jazzmaster.

Went looking, found a blueprint.

Holyshit. The Jazzmaster is Fucking Huge.

I knew it was big, but damn.

This is a Jazzmaster body overlaid... on a P-Bass. They are really close to the same size. :red:

Image

Actually, if you shift the JM forwards so the body contours are more closely aligned, i think the Jazzmaster might be bigger. :red:

I still think that i am going to aim to build one, but shit. I will have to find some more wood.

That is why they have so much toanes.

Jazzmasters are the indie music equivalent of Explorers to metal.
Also, I take a small bit of pleasure in the fact you are building a Jazzmaster ... :red:

I have wanted one ever since a few years back when i played one that belonged to a surf dood i did some drumshizz for. Playing it, it doesn't feel that big, but really, it is.

But they do have an awesome sound to them. And i do want a geetar with the JM bridge.

Even though, the offset angled bottom edge is weak as fuck. :cop:

Hmmm.

Anyhow, this is what i did yesterday:
Image

New, accurate, templates for the tele, mustang, and also for an LP with a strat/jackson-style neck.

And then i did some secondary shaping on the oddsize tele from the OP and also the oddsize LP-ish one from earlier. Both bodies are too small in one curve or another to allow the normal templates for the guitars to be used, so i had to do some rejiggering.

Probably going to do the tele esquire style. Still don't know what i am going to do for pickup and bridge arrangements with the mini LP.

Also i need to find a way to acquire all kinds of random shit: neck plates, knobs, tuning pegs, jazzmaster pickups and bridges... Garr. At least not having the shit will mean that i won't be temptd to rush the sanding/routing/finishing processes on the bodies, i guess... :red:

Chris needs a job with a ferocity. Unfortunately my hobo resume is shitlike.

Evidently, merely being the former king of mexico and a generally sinisterlyminded evil quartergenius, is just not enough for most employers in this current economic climate. :red:

:idk: I don't understand it either. Actually, no one i know understands it either. I am either just terminally unlucky, or perhaps i simply do not possess the obvious thirst for blood that i once did. Probably a combination of the two plus: :idk:...

Aren't you up around the Boston area?

IIRC, that is where Guitarfetish is located ... at least I know they are in MA.

Anyway,, if you are in the area you might want to throw a resume his way. Even if it were something as simple as a shipping/packaging gig, they seem like the kind of place that would value some hobo-science :idk:

Aye, it occurred to me, but they don't seem to be looking for people. Also they are about an hour away, probably an hour and a half with the traffic at rush hour to get from here to there, and about 50 minutes out of Boston. I *wish* they had a storefront in the city(or even where they are). That would be stupidly convenient.
