Well, looks like that model t pedal really learned a lesson.

Mustang looks really rad stripped down like that, janked ass wood and all. How's the stock hardware on that thing? That is usually my complaint with those squiers but I guess you're lucky goin hardtail instead of whatever wonked floating trem they do on those. At that price though that is a crazy ass deal.

Do love a good resonant body that doesn't sound like strings in a vacuum basically. Does the guitar feel really light even for a mustang?

Yeah, it is proper stupid light. Actual weight just now from my scale: 5.3lb.

Hardware is fine, stoptail definitely on purpose, because i was messing with tunings a bit then and all my "normal" mustangs were getting pissy about it with their mustang and jazzmaster bridges. They are the cheaper oldskool strat style saddles on this thing, but i have zero complaints.

I DID however swap out the tuners for i think staggered height Kluson Supremes or something because some vendor i visit was dumping them cheap for idk why. For a standard looking, but better, tuner, the nicer higher ratio klusons are swell. The OG tuners were fine-ish, but i also fucking hate string trees and the staggered klusons mean i dun need them. :idk:

Amazingly, the pedal still works, and i still haven't reboxed/fixed it. I just step carefully to engage.

Oh, i def like a locking tuner here and there. Whats nice about the upscale klusons is how fricken light they are. I like them in featherweight neck dive-ish guitars. I think i have them in my Casino, my lighter SG, this superlight mustang, and i think also one of my homemade teles.

String trees however, are definitely trash. At the very least, they should never put any type on a guitar other than the roller type.

The classic vintage bent piece of metal ones are just for creating tuning problems and broken strings. I think they were actually designed (by the string industry) to drive sales. :red:

Yargh, that is nice. I usually feel strange playing a really lightweight instrument but if you can feel/hear the body actually resonating that is cool.

For whatever reason never had a real problem with string trees breaking strings or whatever but I've not really had many trem guits. Do have one of those stetsbar style guys on my single coil tele and I cannot believe how good that thing is at staying in tune. You can fully dump the strings a few times and it comes back almost perfectly in tune. It looks a bit cheesy but more functional than any body routed bridges I've played on a fender besides a floyd or whatever.

I've only been playing bass in bands playing out the past like 5 years but still write a lot on guitar and it's kind of funny how spoiled bass players are as far as tuning stability. My two telecasters are pretty good about it but we've got Alex's SG and a LP Jr. double cut around and they hate staying in tune and usually don't even actually sound in tune when they are, kinda fucky. I don't know what's up with that but it seems like a coin flip with Gibsons with intonation even when they're properly setup. And then that fuckin annoying shit where the tension gets caught behind the nut.

It's funny after recording bands all these years how sensitive I've become to intonation and stuff, shit's a fucking nightmare. It doesn't usually bug me listening to music I didn't work on but while recording hoo boy. Sometimes I guess that's part of the sound but if a heavy hardcore band has got it stuck in their head they're gonna quad track something for some cursed reason on a couple never setup SGs. Goddamn.

Yeah. pretty much any fender has been a million times easier to intonate than pretty much any of the tune-o-matic, or even worse, lpjr bridges.

IME, pretty much none of the tuneomatics i haven't put in myself are set up with enough travel in the saddles to actually get both ends of the thing intonated the way i like. In building with them the trick really is to put the bridge at a kind of goofy looking angle. Even then though there really isn't much travel to work with.

I much much much much prefer the modern (-ish, like 1990s i think) fender bridges. Closest thing i ever got to 100% happy with a setup was my old ass MIM tele.
