Something we did on Maps.

I have a New Media project coming up and I was thinking of doing a research piece on how Wikis could be used for hypertextual narratives.

Then I thought, instead of doing boring ass research and speculation, I could just create a narrative Wiki.

So, I am thinking of creating a piece called The Most Marvelous Man You Never Heard Of, which would be a comedic/satirical Wikiography following the story of some awesome guy who did all these awesome things that influenced history, but he was always like a background player so he never got his big chapter in history.

The piece would be written by a modern day historian trying to reclaim this guys legacy by creating this wiki.

Now I just need a name for this most awesome character.

I don't remember off the top of my head either. I remember that being totally random and memorable though.

It was a thread about legally changing one's name from something embarrassing to something, well, better. I might be able to find it if i go through my HC post history, but i just don't know if i am really bored enough to do that right now! :red:

So that's where the word 'awesome' was derived.

To clarify, the book Wolfie is holding is "Justine ou Les Malheurs de la vertu" by Donatien Alphonse François de Sade. He thought the book was too tame and was looking to re-write it to be more graphic.

"Wolfgang Handgrenade McAwesome one was one of the most important political figures before, during and after the Civil War. He was born on March 4th, 1929 - Andrew Jackson’s inauguration day - to Reginald and Winifred McAwesome, British immigrants who crossed the pond to America in pursuit of coffee.

He worked for President Abraham Lincoln and helped him write the first crucial lines of the Gettysburg Address. McAwesome helped Secretary of Treasure Salmon P. Chase champion paper currency and even convinced Congress to put Chase on the $10,000 bill. Though he and his accomplishments may not have been properly recognized by history textbooks (yet), many of his contemporaries were more than aware of his accomplishments, including Walt Whitman who made it one of his life goals to redefine the word Awesome from “awe inspiring” to “posterior punting” - modernly translated to “kickass”.

He did not only participate in the political arena of the day, but also made economic and literary contributions to American history. He helped inspire one of the first American Joint-Stock companies, when he convinced members of the Oneida Perfectionist Community to, “stop sleeping around like a bunch of miscreants, and start mass-producing silverware like sensible people.” He even entirely rewrote Donatien Alphonse François de Sade’s "Justine ou Les Malheurs de la vertu" in the late 19th century simply because he wanted to read, “something exciting for a change.”

A rough draft of what I am going for.

I think it was in a thread that wasn't saved in the changeover.

Devin I believe Jesus Christ himself would endorse that one.
