Post subject:  KITTIES!
Some of you probably already know I am a cat person. I grew up with them, and hate the lack of a feline presence in my current home.

Well, that is about to change tomorrow morning.

I am going to go to the Humane Society tomorrow (already went today and scoped it out, they are overloaded with cats) and am most likely going to come home with one of these kittens:

Any opinions on which one brings the most cuteness?

I don't think I want a black cat, brings back sad memories :cry:


Chances are I will just go with the one the little lady picks out, but I value your opinions as well (just don't tell her that :cop:).

There is a possibly myth/conventional wisdom that male cats are friendlier. Mine growing up was a dick though, so who knows.

I wouldn't pick one from its pictar. You will have to see how they all behave. My mom has always tended to look for the most insane cats at the SPCA. This technique has ups and downs. They are usually good cats and fun, live a long time, keep themselves entertained, etc, but ideally you don't want to have too many expensive things around your house for them to shred or knock over. :red:

I have also had good luck with orange male cats. Pretty laid back and talkative. Also, the crazy Maine Coon-ish female cat that i am currently stuck in care of, is pretty cool, a little dog-like actually.

Mainly you just need to go and play with them a bit and see what you see.

Oh yeah.

I wouldn't adopt on picture alone. But I went by today and saw the kittens and most of them were quick to come up and do the rub and start purring. There was a real dick-hole adult tabby there that tried to scratch everyone through his cage, I kinda appreciated his dedication to orneriness.

I will probably go with a domestic short hair. I kinda need short hairs for the allergies (not allergic to cats really, but a lot of hair can get to me) and they are usually pretty easy to raise. My Mom's Siamese is absolutely hilarious, goofy ass squeeking all the time.

But I am working the whole weekend so I am going to wait until Tuesday most likely, when I will have time to be at home to keep an eye on it. Most likely it will live in my bathroom for the first couple of weeks when I am not at home. It is roomy and pretty hard to mess anything up. Also, my roommate and I work on opposite schedules so when I am not home, 99% of the time he is. He is cool with helping me out a bit with the raising. Therein lies the argument for adopting an older cat. Which, I may also ultimately end up doing.

I just like to name things either simply what they are (I still just call out first cat Kitty, though he is named Oscar) or after popular video game characters.
