Meh. What passes for "true"? I have read that, and it is funny. I don't doubt that Eric Sarafin ran into a lot of those type of situations recording the types of bands that he has worked with, but there is definitely a bit of Gonzo Journalism going on all up in that shizz.

I think I recall reading a bit. Like where he says you should put your ear up to a blaring loud 4x12 to find the best speaker? Yeah, I don't think I will be doing that. That's like telling a painter to stare into the sun.

That's Slipperman and the Distorted Guitars From Hell thread. Which is on Mixerman's forum. But they aren't the same guy.

Perhaps I should have better said "based on true stories". The account as a whole is, of course, a fictionalized collection of anecdotes. It's like someone made a book out of the Stupidest Things Heard In The Studio thread on Gearslutz.

I've heard many things about Mixerman, just haven't got round to getting it yet.

I gotta say in the Richards book "Life" seems like he wrote it for musicians, because he really talks about some chord structure and writing etc, it's not dumbed down for the general population.

I recently re-read this out of general boredom. Full of goodies.

I want to go to med-school, so books like these always grab my attention.
