Running it through the Orange setup with a big muff was pretty damn nifty.
The fretboard was gunky ass hell from the ancient strings, so it needed a bit of attention but it is a hell of a player. One of the smoothest playing strats I have had a chance to mess with. The pickups are pretty nice, but I am not wild about them. Unfortunately it is not my guitar, so they will stay as is. The are US Texas Specials, staggered and fairly hot. Better than most strat pickups I have heard that come stock in a guitar.

Re: I am getting a strat tomorrow I generally like non-staggered pickups myself, and with single coils I usually like it a bit mellower. Though recently I have been leaning towards higher output singles (or hc-sized singles) to help slam mah fuzzes.

Re: I am getting a strat tomorrow Texas Specials really aren't that much beefier than your typical singles. It's not a day and night difference... just a slight variance in the overall tonal balance.
