I'll put out for gear. Of course, in the past, this has meant "sell my gear to appease significant other because I am not gigging because they view band as a threat" which is sorta the opposite.

I'm going to have to join the that is a bit much side. Jacks are cheap as fuck, so is wire. Wiring instrument electronics is not tough at all. I have done it, and you can ask chris about the quality of my workmanship (it's awful). A setup is a bit more involved, but if you have the tools it does not take very long. Unless there is something drastically fucked up with that bass, it shouldn't be $200 in labor. As a reference, the guitar shop I worked in used to give complete setups with new strings and such for under $50. Even if repairs or extra work, like wiring new pickups, were involved it still wasn't too much of a premium. Granted, that shop did close down, but that was mostly due to the owner being a flakey stoner. |
