Post Interesting post I saw on HCEG
Tryin' to spams mah tele, I noticed a NGD thread and was like, "Eh why not ..."

Guy was reviewing 2 models from this company

http://www.gladiatorguitars.com/product ... eries.html

That LP and the more price model.

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/sho ... 801958-NGD

Seems to like it pretty well, doesn't seem like an obscene price for a cheap LP copy (the veneer top model anywho). Granted it is competing with Agile LPs, but it has alpha pots, pretty solid tuners (supposedly) and wilkinson pickups.

:idk:

I'm bored at work, and I know we are all broke motherfuckers so I doubt anyone would be interested in these, but you know how I love me some cheap beaters.

And of course, I saw yet another thread where Bbreaker brags about his guitar collection through a thin veil of curiosity.

Well, what they have going for them, is that they have properly ripped-off gibson shapes. :huzzah:

Other than that, and the fact that they are chinese, rather than korean, they seem very similar to the midrange Agile biz.

One of the doods in the thread mentions that the maker was shut down by Gibson?

I would be interested in the not-quite-LP models they have. The SG and the LP Jr. are priced right($200) for sure, especially for something that is shaped correctly, and doesn't have some sort of ridiculously fashioned headstock. :idk:

Oh wait, the low end SGs are basswood bodies/maple necks... I wonder if they are bolt-ons?

The $320 one seems proper mahogany/mahogany/set-neck though.

Still interesting.

I will say though, that some of those chinese guitars have pretty shitty neck/fret quality.

Places like Rondo or GFS, tend to screen them somewhat(or accept returns no questions asked) which makes it less of a risk.

I would be curious to see how these actually shape up across the line.

Yeah looking through the batch some are definitely a bit more desirable then others spec. wise. Some of the higher-end models seem to be a bit too much for what they are asking.

I thought the shapes looked pretty darn good though

Yo, the faux fender ones look pretty much shitty, all of them.

Which is fine, because low end Real Fenders both exist, and don't suck.

But these cheapos sure do look a lot worse than their fake gibsons.

I like how the cheapest Ibby style model is all mahogany, and the more expensive ones are basswood/maple.

Hmmmmm.

Ain't nothin' wrong with a Chicano Fender. While I prefer the bridge on the USA Strats, the Teles and basses are just fine how they are.

MIM Teles are probably one of the best price:quality guitars you can get, especially in the used market.

Shit I am probably gonna pick one up once I sell the Xavy and get my new interface.

True dat. I don't blame you; the silverburst MIM I played yesterday was a damn nice guitar.

What's that line again- what's the difference between an American Fender and a Mexican one? About 50 miles.

Mexicans do better work then them lazy-ass white folk anyway.

Also the plant is pretty damn nice looking for a Mexican sweat shop.

My bassist actually said something like that, that Mexicans are hardworking people and us Americans are lazy. he sees little difference save for hardware and pickup choices between the two. Frankly, I think he's right. (I can't speak for the cuts of wood used, whether the US plant gets a better selection.) Granted, aren't US Fenders largely made by Mexicans anyhow? This is not to knock US Fenders; we both have them and they're nice instruments. Rather, it's praise for being quality throughout their line.

I'd say there is a good chance the US plant has a bunch of Mexicans working there.

The hardware, pups and pieces are worth the price-tag alone though. The pickups are not shabby either, but being the tinkerous motherfucker I am I wouldn't keep them stock. I am anxious to buy MIMsy and slab a sc-sized 'bucker in that bridge. I wouldn't mind a split-bucker in the neck either.
