I dig those. Silverburst works nicely on teles and LPs, IMO.

Also interesting and somewhat thematically similar, plus purple:

That is glorious, the purple one. :nods:

I'm really tempted to pick up the Silverburst Tele on my way home if I don't get that Bogner cab off CL. I can probably score it for $350 out the door... :snax:

I approve of silverburst and of teles so you are in double win category there sir.

I endorse the thing myself; it plays and sounds lovely. A bit different neck than usual and I'm suspecting there's something going on under the hood re: the electronics. Apparently these were a special run for GC originally. The tag says $399 but I figger if I roll in with $350 in hand... Plus the dude there is cool with me.

Fuckin' do it.

AND buy the cab. :eyebrows:

Why the fuck not, you are gainfully employed. Flaunt it, baby. Do it for all of us cardboard belt wearers out there. :huzzah:

Hot, but I like me a nice copperburst tele personally :red:

Buy it, and I'll buy it from you in about a month or so. :nods:

I muchly prefer the one Chris posted. For me, when teles get fancy, they need the binding.

Get it. Also, when walking home with it, make sure you step over a homeless sitting on the ground, begging for change.

Wee, how is it? Compared to your other telecasters?

It's an interesting creature. It originally caught my eye because of the oddball finish; I was at the guitar store near my house to buy a glass slide and some picks, and wound up jamming this through a little Fender combo.

From what I gather, the Silverburst Teles were a limited run that was only available through GC. The neck feels a bit more modern, flatter up toward the top. It is not a 7.5" vintage radius by any means; it's flatter than my USA Strat. It's kinda shreddy, actually. I was sweeping on it earlier. :rawk: There's definitely some weird shit going on under the hood; I was told the pot values are non-standard and I'd believe it. The top end rolls off a lot more dramatically, like the tone pot I had in my old Eclipse. I suspect the pickups are some variant flavor; the bridge is very hot and aggressive, which was something- besides the fact it plays great- that sold me on the thing originally. A Tele is really all about that bridge pickup much as the Strat's about the neck. The heavier Garda stuff I've "historically" played live on a red Tele in Drop D, and this for the meanness of the bridge pickup will probably become the new weapon of choice for that. The neck pickup on this isn't as... dull as I normally find the Tele neck; I actually rather like it. It's brighter and a bit more Strat-y to my ears. I don't know why.

It's also a very heavy guitar; I'll assume the body is Alder. I think it's a bit heavier than my Strat! I do seem to tend toward things that say "Fender" on the headstock and weigh a bit too much.

It wasn't until I started getting into Teles that I liked maple fretboards. And I probably only like them on Teles, but they feel right in that context. It does have 9s on it, which I suppose I should swap out for 10-52s or 11s post-haste as I'mma record with it tomorrow. Then I can get a better handle on the thing. Save for strings 'n' setup there's nothing in particular I'd want to do to the thing. Maybe bridge saddles, either compensated brass or GraphTech as per the Stratoblaster. There are worse things I could have dropped three bills and change on. :tu:

I restrung this with 11s, raised the action and gave it a proper setup. It was used on several Garda tracks today and will be again tomorrow no doubt. Into the AC30 turned up to the end of its clean headroom, the bridge pickup (with the proper tremolo, spring 'verb and slapback) emits the manliest Spaghetti Western tones ever. They are so manly and western they sound like John Wayne punching a bison in the testicles.
