Re: NEW SHRED GUITAR DAY DERP
The neck profile is in between the Js series and RG prestige (wizard) style neck. I can't play wizard necks for long without cramping.
It is like a wide curvy "D" profile. Nice string spacing with a satin finish. The neck is most similar to a EBMM JP6 IMHO. Maybe a bit thicker and wider but only by a minute bit.
The 7 in the name is just from Vai being that kind of dude.
The first Jems on the market were the
Jem777LNG (loch ness green with maple board and pyramids 777 made)
Jem777sk, Jem777dy, Jem777Vdy,Jem777VSK, Jem777bk etc. Those were all Square neck pocket Jems in mostly flourescent colors between 1987-early nineties.
The Jem77fp and Jem77bfp and Jem77bsb were floral patterns and blue stained models in the early nineties.
The Jem77bk is a black AANJ jem with Dimarzio Breed pickups.
The only Jems with Non "Jem" profile necks are the Jem7dbk The Jem7Dnay2k (both with ULTRA WIZARD profiles.... super fucking thin)
Also the Jem 505 and 555's are a bit non-standard. The 505 is a great guitar at a reasonable price.
I did leave out a few models but that shoudl give you the gist. The 7 really has nothing to do with the age, other than the 777's being the first models.
The Universe (7 strings) are all UVxx coded.
