http://buffalo.craigslist.org/msg/2940394719.html I shouldn't. It's money. I don't want to spend money. But: I want a 5-string again. (I damn near need a 5-string again considering I'm generally in E, drop D and B as a bassist. Or in C# when I do the metalthing.) I had a very similar 5 in the past. I know the pickups are nothing to write home about and it didn't cut like a Jazz live, but the sustain and resonance was fantastic- I love neck-through basses for this- and it did sound pretty awesome recorded. This was a really snazzy bass for the buxx. I like the non-finish finish on this too, not the usual too goddamn much lacquer import finish. What say ye? For a tone reference, here's my old one, DI'ed, may or may not have SVX on it. Does'nt sound like it though. This is a few years old: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=7742522 The bass in the clip: |

I am indeed, anti-fivestringbass. Unless you are like a four foot tall female Alaskan mathrock bassist. Then you need one for tinyhands. That said, if you dig its stylez and have dollars, why the fucknot? I personally, if i would be forced to acquire a morethanfour stringbass, would probably go for something Fender-shaped, as i have never really got along with the "nice modern bass" shapes. I am basically a complete fucking curmudgeon(Y U NO SURPRISE, ERRBOD?) when it comes to basses, and they are one of many issues in which my opinions can be utterly disregarded. In troof, i pretty much ONLY like the four classic shapes. P, J, SG/EB, Rickenbacker, and that is all. |

That is an amazing price on that bass. I recall your bass recordings with the old LTD five... had a dark low mid sort of tone. |

basses have 4 strings. :| i say nay. besides.. that is shaped like a spaceship, and you are not shaped like a spaceship. thus, you and spaceship shaped thing are not a likely pairing unless it is behind the invisibleness which is a record. live: absolutely not. maybe, MAYBE.. if it isn't on the record jacket anywhere, you could play it for recordings. on songs that necessitated sub rumbling. but only then. |
