Strats, teles, jazzes and jags. All stripped down versions with mostly buckers, running ~$450 new. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/blacktop |

Thinking about picking up one of these to slap some wide-ranges in. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=H61570 |

While i do not dislike any of them, neither would i be inclined to buy any of them. Also, for me, swapping the pickups would be high on my list if i were to acquire one somehow. I am not really into fullsize humbuckers in fenders. Rail buckers, absolutely, but fullsized ones, i have not liked too much on their own. I haven't spent any time with the wide range style fender ones though. I might like those, from what i have heard of them.

I've played a couple of guitars with them, and I like them. They are kinda mellow though, though I think the GFS ones may be a bit hotter (and standard hum sized). |

I like the Wide Range in the neck position in my deluxe, but the bridge one was lacking when I had one, I have different taste now than I did, when I took the WR out of the bridege on my last Deluxe. The current deluxe did not come with the wide range.... It has Duncan Distortion.... |

I like the aesthetics of these, except the Strats. Two 'buckers in a Strat just doesn't look right to me. (Somehow it is acceptable in a Tele.) Actually, I would totally hit the Tele. Or the Jaguar. A pickup swap would, natürlich, be in order. |

Two 'buckers and a full-size pickguard looks off, somehow. Two 'buckers in a Strat-shaped body is its own thing and should be pickguardless. Now, a Tele with a single in the bridge and a 'bucker in the neck is absolutely acceptable. The bridge pickup is what makes a Tele a Tele. With two 'buckers in a Strat, you lose much of its inherent Stratishness. Positions 2, 3, 4 and 5 are all their own ideosyncratic thing. Though 2 and 4 can be swapped with each other interchangeably. The neck pickup (and to a lesser extent, the middle, which I've come to prefer for non-high gain rhythm work) is what makes a Strat a Strat. If you want an awesome neck humbucker tone, that's what a Les Paul is for. |

The only strat I want these days is a lime green single bucker Kramer Pacer. Or just a Kramer neck on a single bucker lime green strat body. Either way, you get the idea. |

I would name it "Cock Extension". I think you and I talked this guitar out. IIRC, you wanted the tele version? |

Nah son, for that style, it HAS to be a strat shape, IMO. Also, must have a Floyd Rose! |

Sort of, not really though. It was this: ![]() (this picture obviously after i destroyed it and changed the pickups and bridge) White, single coil in the neck, and a cheaper licensed Floyd. The body is toast now, but the neck is still awesome. All i need is a new lime green body and the bridge.
