I can get one of these of CL for $150.

Should I do it? It is going to need some work, but it would suit my semi-hollow needs on teh cheaps.

If you dig it, why not?

I am not into the shape myself.

But for $150, mang!
I would compromise on cosmetics at that point.

:idk: There are a shit ton of interesting guitars at the $100-150 pricepoint.

That is true, but I have a primal fear of those SX guitars...
That price for a new instrument scares me.

That was my first guitar. I paid $100 shipped to my door new for it. I still have it, and honestly, it's probably the best sounding guitar I own. Stock pups and all. It sounds something like my Gibson, but with more meat. The pups are uber open sounding and extra hi-fi but not shronky or overly sharp in anyway. It's also got a very Wizard-esque neck with jumbo frets.

It's ugly as a motherfucker, though.

I find those Talmans interesting. If you don't have a hollow/semihollow get it, fuck with it, if you end up not liking it you can re-sell it for what you have into it easy. I buy a lot of gear if it's cheap and then flip it or trade it. I got my Tele Deluxe from trade that I bought a guitar for $150 so it can work out. :nods:

That's what I figure.

From the description it sound like it may need a new input jack, and a little work. But I figure at absolute worst I can at least break even on it if I don't like it.

exactly. You can always put it up on HC Classifieds and get a trade for something else. I made a nice little side job out of trading up and selling. :plot:

Plus it is slightly offset.

I can probably sell it on HCFX for a bunch.

With OHSC, so that is nice.

Looks like it just has some rusty parts and a shorted jack, so that should be cheap and easy.

I agree with you, but cheap semi-hollows are a lot less available. Especially ones I like ...

yes, you could also sell it with a gig bag, and sell the case separately, which I have done and make you some cayyyysh

I imagine the cases may be hard to find. The guitars originally shipped in gig bags it seems, to I am sure there a few owners out there who would drop some cash on a hard one.

So I could a chance to dig into it at work a bit.

It is actually a really beasty player. The strings are dead as hell, but the action is set to just about perfect and the intonation is pretty spot on. In fact, it is still in tune.

I haven't cracked open the back panel yet to look at what I assume is going to be the rust-dust remains of what were electronic components, but even if I gut them all I am 100% satisfied with the playability.

All in all, I am very pleased for $150 bucks.
