You could always refin it.  I had a friend's japan squire strat (in that exact same color) back a while that i borrowed/accidentally borderline stole, for about a couple years. It was a really great guitar, and i used it on all kinds of stuff back then. I finally figured out a way to get it back to the dood, and then he got it proper stolen out of his car like a week later.

That the Fender System 1. Yeah some type of Kahlerish thing. from what I've read folks are saying it was the best trem Fender ever did  I heven't tried it built will render my review upon yanking the living shit out of it later....
