That solo tone is bossrighteous.
And that guitar is kickass.

But, there's something weird going on..?
I don't know.

Some odd reverby-ness?
I can't quite tell, on shitty laptop speakers ATM.

Again, sounds like it's in a tiny box.

Can you try recording with the box open?

Does sound a bit strange in the midrange to me. Not something that i think of as a characteristic of the D60 at all. I like the breakup quality, but the mids seem odd.

What kind of microphone placement options do you have inside there?

Also, i don't know anything about that speaker. What type of Eminence is it? A copy of some other speaker?

Lastly, i would really like a Newcastle Brown Ale right now. Even though it is 10:00 AM on a thursday. :huzzah:

Could you post a screen shot from a spectrum analyser (such as span) from a part of the recording? I'm interested to see how much comb filtering you're getting from all the reflections and whether or not it can be compensated for.

THanks bud. Idk, there isn't any reverb or post eq or anything on this clip besides Ampeg SVX on the bass. You might be hearing the differences in the left and right guitar tracks from my sloppy riffing

You think so? I don't hear that on this clip....sure I could record with the box open but that would defeat the purpose.

Hm, what characteristics do you think of when you think D60? That amp is ridiculously versatile. The spank and growl of p90's in the middle switch position is a unique sound for sure. As for mic placements it's just a gooseneck hanging inside so there are a few spots I can hit.....would be nice if the gooseneck was a bit more rigid and perhaps a little shorter though. The speaker is a 16 ohm 100 watt Jet City 12" by Eminence; that's about all I know bout it.

Can you link me to a place where I can get a free one?

Search for voxengo span

K. Don't really know what I'm doing but I solo'd the left guitar track and added SPAN and then hit the hold button and took a screenshot.

That's fine. I'll explain stuff when I'm not using my phone.

That shows the comb filtering in the signal. You see where there are spikes around 800-1.5 kHz? Thats comb filtering from constructive and destructive interference from the reflected signal. This is probably what is giving it a 'boxy' sound. With a bit of tweaking it can be worked with though. The DKiH EP has comb filtering all over it as we had to record it live in a room with painted walls :poop:

Interesting! What should I do about it? Scoop out some of those frequencies?

Try to smooth the whole curve out a bit.
