Hell I used mine on the crunch channel with the gain at 1:00 or so... mids at 6-7.
Or you could go the Gary Holt route, crunch channel gain at 12:00, EQ boosting the mids in front of the amp, and scoop them on the amp.....

Yay. It's basically a 6505/5150 with a fuckton of gain and a flubby channel. Oh, and a semi-good clean channel too. The Ultra channel has enough gain for me with the gain on 2. Crunch channel is more like 6. |

Gary Holt is god. Right now I'm running the highs on 6, mids on 7, lows on 8. Gain's somewhere in between 5 and 6. This amp responds well to beating the shit out of your guitar. |
