Re: The workbench thread
They mount with M2.5 hardware. An antislip washer and nut should keep it in place. I have a massive piece of phenolic board on the way (600x400mm) and I have 80 of these crazy little fuckers so I can have a few boards on the go. I'm building a dedicated powderamp into my prototyping rig as I have an OT that wont see use otherwise. Looking at about 45W out of a pair of 6L6s.

Re: The workbench thread
Back to my previous build. It had an annoying buzz which couldn't be cured with a humdinger so I pulled the whole thing apart and redid the grounding scheme to be a local star bus which should be ground loop free and much quieter. We'll find out tomorrow when I wire the rest of it back up.

Re: The workbench thread
Fixed the grounding, things are much improved. Now I have a little bit of coupling between the OT leads and the input to sort and its done. In other news:

Might as well stock up! The stuff is split between a big muff prototype and my amp protorig which so far has cost more money then I care to add up

Re: The workbench thread
I really need to build a 2x10 cab for the Vox LNT.
tor's old HRD combo cab is working just fine for now though. Actually I am kinda considering trying to turn the LNT INTO a combo using that cab, but the dimensions are all fuckered for that.
If anyone needs an empty 2x10 combo cab though ....

Re: The workbench thread
Nah I've not fucked with it. Sounds great as it is. I was going to add a depth to the NFB loop but its already basstarded and any more low end is just going to kil OT's at the volume I play at. It does look to have been fiddled with by someone else though and I haven't got another AOR to test it against.
The trannys on it are frigging huge. I have a cheapo 100W OT which is a bit bigger than an OT in a DSL and a fair chunk bigger than whats in the blackstars I've seen. The OT in the AOR dwarfs it.
When I've gotten to the bottom of why its being a shitbag, which does look more and more like the inputs, I might recap it. Its a bit of a faff as it uses a voltage doubler for the B+. It has 2 50+50 µF 500V cap cans for the plates in series parallel which is a bit of a waste of £13 when I could just use 2 100 µF caps in series which would be much cheaper but I'd have to make a board for it and whatnot. Thing is though, 50 µF is fuck all filtering for an amp not using a doubler, let alone one that does!
