I hate to be the douchebag that says it, but I really do think the Peavey sounds a bit better..
Meaner.

I think the 5152 has the same problem I had with my 6505... too much 1-2k. HONK!

You see, that's my favorite characteristic of the 5150 sound.

Post Re: 6262 vs 5152
I liked it at first, but it got old quick. Especially when I had a JSX and an XXX. The 6505 ended up getting dirty controls and shit because I was only using it to record with. Then I got tired of the way it sounded in a mix.

The XXX does the abrasive grindy thing as well as the 6505, without the huge midrange spike. The XXX is also a shit-ton tighter, and doesn't only do one sound. The JSX is a different beast altogether, though... It kind of does it's own thing.

I suppose it's because I like what might be considered sort of "ugly" guitar tone.
For finding rock tones on amps I usually realize I have the mids and treble jacked with the bass about halfway or more..
On nearly every amp.

I don't what it is..
:idk:

That said, when I want a non-trebly lead sound I completely turn off the tone control and switch to the neck or neck/bridge combo and crank the fuzz.
It's just how I like things to sound.
:nods:

For example, this is one of my favorite lead tones;

Check 4:20.
Pure treble.

Yeah, I dig tones like that, too. I'm a huge Skynyrd fan.

That kind of tone doesn't really work for the stuff I play, though. Me need meat.

Yargh, those two tones work in very different contexts.
You can do the whole treble/mids guitar thing in a rock context as long as you got the bass filling in the low end.
Doesn't work so well in the context of extreme metal..
Atleast, IMO.

Cool clips man. Only had the chance to listen on lappy speakers but i'll give it another go on my home rig later. The 6262 seemed perfectly rockable and a few component swaps could make it a proper beast. :isay:

Art not me playing... It's Ola Englund from Feared.

www.youtube.com/fearedse

He does lots of amp videos. If there's a high gain amp to be played, he's recorded it or will soon.

Wish there weren't bass and drums to get in the way of comparing the tones.

I've heard other comparison clips of the Peavey VS the Bugera and the Peavey sounded... well, the old cliche of there being a blanket taken off the speakers? That's sort of what the Peavey had going on in comparison to the Bugera, though definitely not a night and day sort of difference.

Does the 5150 II have the bias mod? If not its like coming to a drag race with 2bbl carb.

FJA explains the mod at the bottom here....
http://www.fjamods.com/5150II.html

I think the Bugera has an external bias pot?

Why not put a bias probe on both amps and adjust the bias on Bugera to match the most likely underbiased Peavey, then run your comparison again......

I did the Bias mod on my 5150 (I miss her now) made a nice difference. :nods:
