a) This kicks the shit out of my classic 30 in terms of distortion... it sounds a lot more realistic and less gooby, the only word I can think of to describe the classic 30 :o
b) cleans are meh, but what can you expect from something that costs $200 used
c) it sounds good quiet but can get pretty fucking loud

basically sg->blackheart is a great dormroom practicing/jamming/ recording set up, can't wait until my pedals from home get here :rawk:

If you need a small portable cheap amp, definitely look into this :rawk: the hype as 90% true :rawk:

Are those the 30 watt ones?

I was looking at those a while back but never pulled the trigger. Glad I didn't now because the Orange TT fell into my lap, but they really aren't the same thing.

Mine is switchable between 7 and 15 watts :idk: Yeah I woulda dug a TT but there was just no way I was finding one this cheap nearby

Ah.

Well.

That's pretty damn cool.

CLIPZ.

Whoah. I hadn't really noticed that map. The schematic almost looks like a Matchless Spitfire with a different tonestack. I will have to look at it closer when i am not sick and my brain is working again.

But it looks like Crate did good with that one. :huzzah:

Looking forward to clips.

Also: the Atlas EP :dukes:

Actually, on second look, it is closer to a Matchless Lightning, but with the cathode follower stage removed and just a plate-driven tonestack wired kind of marshally instead.

There are some other changes throughout, but the basic structure is quite reminiscent of the matchless. :isay:

Ah, now I remember.

This one:

http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i- ... dium=feed&

Has the 30w A/Triode mode, as well as the 60w A/Pentode, 50w AB/Triode and 100w AB/Pentode modes. I am still looking for a good deal on a used one. I want to mess around with it, because I have the sneaking suspicion it might not work as well as advertised. If it does though, it wouldn't hurt to have on top of another 2x12. But really, I don't need another amp.

I might take one of these guys though for the right price.

Aside from the fact that it follows in the Crate tradition of way oversized 100w heads, that one sounds pretty solid:

I would probably lean towards the simpler map myself tho.

I could have sworn they did a model with just either 30/15 or 60/30 settings that was single channel and simpler, but I think I was trippin balls or thinking of something else cause I can't find shit on it. I would rather have that.

I most likely wouldn't use half the settings of that amp.

But yeah, listening to a lot of clips these are not bad amps at all. I got to play with the little Ant or whatever in the shop, it was cool but I only got to do guitar store browsing playing so I can't say much about it. I was/have been really skeptical when/since they came out, but now that clips and such are floating around more commonly I am a bit more interested. Sadly, my big map slot is (soon to be) filled, same goes for my little amp needs. I certainly don't need another loud ass tube amp either, considering I can barely turn the TT through a Hellatone 30 up past 7 'o clock before it gets too loud.

Next time I go home I'll probably throw the guitars on it and mix it. Have material for a second one too, and I'm writing an EP for a 4 piece with vocals which will hopefully be done by summer. Also have been writing a piano 'n drums EP with vocals, and have a couple other projects in the works. So I should be spitting out a ton of material in the next 6 months or so :isay: :eekass: John just got his ACL replaced (skiing accident :o ) so when he's a little more healed up hopefully he can cut some tracks at home and send them to me and I can cut some tracks in the studio here.

Aside from the bit regarding the continuing fragility of you Alaskaners, all of those things sound: doap.
