I have a trade on the table to off my DSL + a bit of cash for a '78 JMP. Since I'm not using the DSL I'm thinking to go for it, not often enough I can get a JMP. DSL's are cheep enough also.

Sounds like a good one to me. Make sure the JMP hasn't been raeped/hacked/etc though.

But yeah, JMP is loud(!) badassedry.

And, the DSLs will be around for a long while. Unfucked-with JMPs, will not so much.

It's owned by Dan, this1smyne, pretty good buy, I got one of his buffers, really like it. It had been modded then he had his tech take it back to stock. I'll see if it comes out to be a good price overall I'll go for it otherwise I'll hold out.

That's what I'm thinking, I have a 3 channel Marshall 6100, and the two channel Bogner which does Marshall, but better, or rather, different. so the JMP is bettereer than DSL. and DSL can be bought left and right for about 550-600

I'd go play it for a while. Some JMPs are a bit shitty and some sound awesome.

I go from having way too many guitars to just 2-3 too many (9ish) and from using 3 maps to having 6 or 7 rotating for practice and gigging.

Were I buying anything locally, I would (and have, and will continue to do) just that. There's a guy selling a '72 Fender Super on CL nearerer-ish where my other guitarist lives that I may go for if it's there next week. A bit of a hike for me to check out most days, but I may have him evaluate it- his '73 is awesome.

And yes, the JMP is not the most consistent amp ever- nor are the aforementioned early '70s Fenders... lotsa changes going on up in there, and you really have to play the thing to make sure you've found one of the cool ones.
