Post My idea for my live rig...
...seeing as I can afford to keep the AC30 + Buy New (Old) Shit now...

Shiva head + Old beat-up Marshall cab with Greenbacks/a mix of Greenbacks & 30w Weber Blue Dogs. I have a line on the Marshall locally and want a Greenie cab anyhoo. Maybe all Webers if I feel like paying a considerable amount for speakers.

The Shiva is a known (and beloved) quantity and gives me some different flavors than the AC30 and should be a bit less finicky a little. Greenbacks same deal, known and loved and a good match. The bigger-wattage Alnico Blue-flavored speakers just out of curiosity.

This came up in conversation with my other guitarist whilst we were acquiring :mexican: :snax: before rehearsal the other day. He was thinking of throwing Weber Blue Dogs or Silver Bells into his... old checkerboard Marshall (currently loaded with Mesa C90s) to use with the Herbert. It's his "B" cab for out-of-town shows or times when the Mills takes up too much space to bring.

For proper theatrics, we figured if we both had beater old Marshall cabs onstage, put the Garda logo on them (preferably in distressed metal) in place of the busted old Marshall badges for maximum :huzzah: :red: .

Well I must say that does take the wrinkles out of my shorts. I really heart my Shiva. It cuts through and yet doesn't take anyones head off.

Do you use the gain channel on the Shiva or just the clean channel and pedal the rest of your gain?

I am a total varying-level-of-gain-with-multiple-pedals type of gal now. Also that happens when you do the 3-4 coverbands and don't want to take a new pedal board to each ....

I have thought of building a headshell for my shiva so I can make it a bit lighter and use with cabinets. I like the idea of being able to use bof. I must admin the 1x12 combo whilst heavy is just full of winsauce

In my past Shiva-'speriences, I've always used both channels + the internal boost, which is what I would do. Plus of course pedals for flavor. Probably more the fuzz/bitcrush/nasty sort of dirt pedals and use the gain channel for when I want a conventional gain sound. I never did much with external dirt pedals on the thing in the past; fooled around a bit with an SD-1 and that was it.

Preferably the 2007 model with the bright switches and the less-wonky loop.

The less wonky loop is nice for line level stuffs but folks still see a drop in the pedal loop. I'm using pedal in front so YMMV. ON the Shiva I use only Fuzz, and I use a WH Pork Loin with just the slightest drive to it, it's almost indiscenrable. It just seems to add full ness when on the gain channel and just the hint of breakup on the clean channel. I have also used the OCD to change the tone to be more 6L6ish for certain tunes (OCD and 6L6ish is an oxymoron... no??)

Some sort of buffer for the pedalstuff, then? Granted all I'd probably be running through there is 'verb (EHX Cathedral) and delay/modulation (Eventide Timefactor) with the rest of the goodies- fuzz, bitcrusher, synth, tremolo- out front.

Timeframe? :idk: Depends on what pops up where and when and whether I'm blowing my money on guitar/bass/synth or studio gear at the time. I'm pretty well caught up with my debts and whatnot and actually have money again, finally, that doesn't belong to someone else, and I've become a bit of a miser and don't really want to spend it even though I can, now. I haven't treated myself to any new gear since being proper employed, not even strings or picks or the like. (Admittedly, I did spend the past while trying to be "responsible" and pay off what I owed various places... :wall: )

buffer might do it. I did get a buffer from this1smyne which really improved my signal and it's at the end of my chain. I'll test it and see how it fares in the loop. I don't think I will do the loop anymore, but for testing such things it's would be nifty to do.

The Timefactor can work at line level anyhow.

The new Eventide Space reverb unit looks interesting if I wanted to throw them in a rack and be done with it. I wonder how it sounds compared to the Cathedral?
