It seems I have just purchased a Mesa Mark IIb (60 watt, eq). It's a blonde, just like the green stripe III I had. Why am I pulled towards blonde mraks? Anyway, huzzah for ebay and best offers. :dastardly:

This will make a most suitable replacement for the Blue Angel. Noises shall be made.

Huzzah! I've not owned a Mesa. I must change that at some point, but this sounds like a wonderful purchase. You no longer haz blue angel? :idk:

I just sold it a few days ago. I can never stand using pedals for gain sounds for very long.

Low wattage also gets boring. :red:

Oooh! I'm not familiar with the IIB so much. I know of its existence, and I suppose it does the Mark-series thing as well as anything else. I :love: ed my IV A. Combo, I ass-you-me? What manner of speaker?

You have/had the Suhr Riot, correct? I'd be curious how you think the IIB takes pedals; I never got on with them and my IV. They seemed a bit of a waste, honestly.

[threadjack] And yes, Mr./Ms. tor, you need a Mesa. A Mark or Stiletto would be up your alley. Though with the Shiva and Marshalls you have what the Stiletto does covered pretty well. Or at least the originals, which were the bastard child of the two with a little bit of Mesa aggression thrown in for good measure. The new ones are a bit more Modern Gane. I do actually like Recs myself, but they need some lovin' to sound proper. [/threadjack]

I'm not too familiar with the Mark II's either. It will be interesting to see how they sound versus the III and other modern Mesas.
'Tis a combo and it would seem that it has a Celestion g12h30 in it.

I do still have the Suhr (probably will be ridding of it, though. want it?) and will most likely give it a test and find it redundant.


And Tor should definitely have a go at a Mesa. Perhaps a Tremoverb. They're a right swell sounding map, the crown jewel of the Rectos.

Rectoverb and Tremoverb are lovely! There was a Rectoverb for like $850 when I bought my IV. It was the best sounding Recto I'd ever heard at the time; totally nailed AIC's Dirt with a nice Les Paul. I was about to walk off with the thing when I spotted the IV. $550 for the IV 'cause the fools at GC thought it was broken. A retube and... well, I gigged with it for a few years. :lol:

Turns out a friend of mine bought the Rectoverb, go figure. His current Dual is up there re: Recs; I'm using it on the next Garda single for some overdubs. :lol:

I'd be up for taking the Suhr off your hands if you no longer have a use for it. It is purple.

An H30 in the IIB? Isn't the wattage a bit much for that? :hypno:

Well then it is settled. I will keep my mind open for Mesa in the future. Also I have been eyeing the Riot as well, but have not played one. Since it is purple it must be grand. My Pork Loin is....

I am on the waiting list for a new Timmy which supposedly will be ready in June. :dance:

This from a guy who swore off dirt pedals a long time ago and now has 4 on his current board with more arriving (plus fuzz) :facepalm:

30w speaker does seem a little low for an Mk's output.

I used V30s with mine. :red: To be fair, I had a 4x12 full of them. Chris from Garda uses a Road King cab or a Mesa 2x12 with C90s with his Mark III.

I would totally take the Riot off your hands if you find it redundant with the Mark. I would even pay with a box full of dollar coins.

Honestly, not far from it :lol:

We both seem to like different flavors of the same noise. At least, when it comes to the set-your-amp-on-fire distortions. We really differ on cleans and MVs :mob:
