I'm not attenuating that much, but I should maybe do a bit more to make it a little more controllable for the smaller rooms we're playing at the moment. Right now I'm liking the Top Boost volume around 2:00 and Normal volume on 3:00, jumpered, with both knobs on the attenuator circa noon. It's loud- our new soundman (we have our own FOH guy! ) made a note re: "loud guitar players" the other day... but then went on to comment we do both get very good tones from our rigs that are easy to differentiate.

I'll probably tweak it a bit more later.

It's a mass lite. Like any Attenuator it alters your toanz, but it has adjustable-knob-dohicky-turney-type-thingys for audio pleasantries.

also, you're welcome Mr O'Caster. It's took me a while to really dial in what I liked. You are not going to get that pants moving feel at any low volume, but you can get a very nice toans with a little tweaking from the attenuator.

Oh, I'm not using it to bring a raging AC30 down to bedroom volumes. I'm using it to bring a mostly raging AC30 down a little to drummer volumes. And for that it's quite nice. Not quite "trousers flapping in the breeze" loud, but not exactly quiet either. It'll take a little bit of tweaking, I think, to find the exact sweet spot between OCD/map/attenuator, but I'm pretty damn close.

I have one more rehearsal tomorrow, and I'll gig with it on Saturday.

And yes, we will have pictures, and we're trying to snag a video camera.

Excellent. You are doing just what you should. I think some people think they will try to use the attenuator to drop to bedroom level AND have it sound like its fully opened on 10, and wonder why it's doesn't sound like that. I did the same thing you are doing, bring it to a reasonable level while pushing the power tubes a bit.

Hopefully the pictures will be quality, assuming a quality person takes them at quality angles.

Oh, and I finally made the chili earlier; the jars were too hot from the canning process to mail off today for fear of melting the bubble wrap (I was finally done around 4:15-ish) so I'll mail 'em out tomorrow. I've been busy this week.

I changed the creation process a bit this time as I'm always experimenting. I think it came out a bit spicier and the red bell peppers are in bigger chunks. Among other things. Same basic concept, though, and full of goodness.

There's like 400 pictures from the last show, but I'm waiting on getting 'em so I can work my magick on them. Some of 'em are quite good.

Rather open the thing up onstage. Live and learn. The settings that make me Loud And Clear in the room make me damn near inaudible onstage where I can actually Turn Up And Blast. I agree with his assessment.

I suppose I'll be sending Mr. tor his apparatus back in the near future. Thank you muchly.

I do wonder if i will find myself requiring 30w+ if i ever make my way back onto a stage. 15-20w is loud, and more than i need usually with a drummer at practice, but i just don't know about some of the medium/bigger clubs.

Same here re: drummer at practice. I'm used to gigging with half-stacks full of big bottles, and the AC30's a loud bastard- thus the attenuator in the first place. It helps a lot in the room.

But that extra push over the cliff, as it were... live, I just don't need it. It's funny, too, 'cause we were on a tiny-ass stage. We scaled down to two synths (Prophet and Kurzweil) for the show for the extra room, as we were playing a shorter set. I wound up doing a whole solo mostly by eye just due to lack of volume- and I turned up at one point a couple songs in, too.

Also: I need an amp stand. And a 2x12 full of Greenies (with the reconed Blue back in the combo cab) for more sound dispersion onstage.

And an attenuator for the rehearsal room.

On the plus side, a couple guitarists in the audience commented that our toan was very good out front. Considering what we rolled in with, it had better be! Apparently a cranked-and-boosted AC30 cuts very well.

You need an AC15/Lightning/Spitfire/Carmen Ghia for the rehearsal space.

But, yeah, that is one thing that i do know about. If i do find my way back into playing guitar live, it will be with a 4x12 or equivalent. Mainly because, i just know that works.

But for when i was playing with those math rock doods, 20w and a 1x12 was about right for the small practice room.

I've actually considered an AC15CC, but it would be more of a luxury than a necessity. I could buy mics/preamps/guitars/synths with that money.

Any of the other suggestions would work, too, albeit be a bit more 'spensive.

Big cabs have their place onstage with loud dirty rawk. They fill a room nicely. I've definitely had some issues hearing myself onstage with the 2x12 combo, and they're not all really volume-related.

while I like the ease of carrying the Bug V22 1x12. It still doen't rock my world like a 4x12 and my Marshall. I've been a bitch to marshall for too long. I just keep going back, but for the small gigs I do now I will hav e to settle for the bug.
