I've mentioned I picked up a Bugera V22

I read about some channel switching problems from a voltage regulator overheating on some, but I got it for $200. I used it for my gig last night, small club, 22 watts was more than fine for it. I used it in triode mode and even though I like the pentode mode better the volume needed to be low and it worked perfectly.

I used to for 14 songs, no issues, mostly played clean, or rather on the clean channel. Sounded ridiculously excellent. I changed out the preamp tues, one EH Russian in V1 and JJ's in v2 + 3. I didn't have any el84's for the power map but they held up great. Amp was chimey, not brittle got a lot of compliments on tone from the band. I used the 72 Tele deluxe RI mostly with teh wide range neck bucker, the guys I bought it from put a duncan in the bridge, I used it only on 2 or 3 songs I really like the Fender 'bucker in this guitar, I will get another of the stock ones for it and put it back in. No issues with overheating, the drive channel is a nice compliment to the clean channel. I am pretty picky with tones but for this price, you cannot find a better amp. Worse case is I've heard a few have bad tubes etc.. but if you get one for a great price do it. You can fellate me later.

Nicey nice. I wonder what circuit is in that. I am guessing some sort of Vox or Matchless vibe.

If you had to guess, what sort of amp sound do you think they were going for (or indeed copying) in making it?

Oh, and have you ever played a Matchless Lightning?

I've not played a Matchless. I was definetly going for a Voxy* feel and very much accomplished that, of course, closely, but it is not a vox. I have heard through TGP folk that Bug reverse engineered a Matchless, but of course denied it. I have heard it described by better map people than me as a cross between a Vox and a Fender Deluxe. :idk:

*Did some old Beatles covers, 1st album. a few stray Cats, very odd stuff for me to do, and other pop/rock standards.

Two bills for decent rock tones? Deluxe with a bit of Brit-mids?

Not so bad. :monocle:

It has a mid boost, which is like a high-mid boost, if that's not engaged, it's scooped. I have a rough 2 weeks, will try to record it when I'm back.
