Perhaps I could find a brass enclosure for a Fuzz Factory build...

That man sure does know how to charge a lot for a pedal. Not that he is any particularly bad offender in the area, he is just particularly skilled.

His Vexter series goes a long way towards rectifying some of that, but even still, he charges a pretty solid $50+ "novelty and image" fee above what would be more realistic, especially for something that is manufactured overseas... :idk:

His US pedals are simply absurdly priced.

For realz. They are like effects pedals for the Apple-bred expensive novelty device crowd.

I guess as long as people keep buying them. :idk:

I feel we should overthrow him.

Also, I need Germanium transistors to build this bitch. Those I actually have to order.

Trudat. Though, the ones i have in mine, i got locally. If you have a proper electronics store around(as opposed to yer average Rat Shack) you might get lucky and find something suitable in a pair of PNP(important!) germanium transistors. The ones i found are NTE 102As.

Now, the word on the street, is that the circuit can possibly work reasonably well with silicon transistors as well, and at some point i am going to experiment with that i think. :isay:

ALSO. Though it is not listed on any of the layouts, here are the hFE (forward voltage gain measure - useful as a rough indication of how "hot" a device is) readings from a dood's original Vex unit:

Q1 - 2N3904 - Anywhere from 200 to 800 will work fine.
Q2 - PNP Germanium - somewhere around 90+
Q3 - PNP Germanium - somewhere around 120+

Which will be useful, if you are presented with transistors that have been measured. I don't have any way to measure mine, so i wound up using the one of the pair of NTE102As that seemed hotter in a boost i made way back, as Q3, and the other as Q2.

The 2N3904, i just used the first one that came out of the bag. :idk:

I played with this thing most of the day, but forgot to make clips. I also pulled out some of the pedals that never see any use ever from me to toy with, including a flanger, and a fucking stereo chorus pedal.

But i still really like what the Fuzz Factory does. I have to run more tests, because its character really changes a lot depending on whether it is after a buffered pedal, or oddly, if certain distortion pedals are after IT. Some kind of wacky impedance shit i think. Can make some cool effects happen, and can really thicken the sound produced by the FF itself.

I also really enjoy making that classically fuckedup velcrofuzz noise with it. :huzzah:
