I'd think they'd remind you more of homeless people that way, living in boxes and all? :idk:

You've a point, being cardboard, with the exception of the EHX's pine box. Still, I like to think of them as being home owners. How many homeless people have stylized homes?

Those who live in Sony TV boxes. Or those who tape multiple boxes together so as to have separate cardboard rooms to live in.

I lovee it. As a pure dirt box it can do anything from old school T-Rex type crunch to huge doom fuzz and can nail that cliffs of dover super creamy infinite sustain lead sound. You can also get some crazy lo-fi filter type sounds with extreme EQ settings. It works pretty well as a clean boost too, kinda of a more vintagey type of boost as opposed to my Keeley's super tight bottom end. It's also awesome for bass guitar grit. It seems to picky about what amp you run it through if you use it strictly as a clean boost; for example it sounds awesome boosting my Blackstar or my Prowler but I don't like it as much through my VHT.

Haven't tried it through my Fender Prosonic yet but I need to do that

The only thing I really DON'T like about it is how small it is.....the switch is so close to the knobs that during a gig I have to be especially accurate with my stomps :red:

All in all it's probably my favorite stand alone distortion pedal I've ever had.

My petalbored is so fucking cramped the knob placement probably wouldn't bother me. I've had to learn to navigate it in my big stupid boots, but whatevs. :tu: It sounds... delicious.

It's the same as its been for ages but I'll poast anyway as I'm bored. Tuner STILL needs replacing. I took the Rat 2 off since I don't really like it for boosting an already distorted amp. It will be saved for when I finally get a bass :isay:

As you box for the rat is already hacked, you could mod it for different clipping switching. With LEDs, it works much better for lower gain/boosty sorts of use.

That said, i don't really use the one i built all that much. It has a unique sound compared to other pedals, but for what i need most of the time, i get with a combination of Timmy, Box Of Rock, Shredmaster, and/or HotCake.

Actually, i would say that the Shredmaster does what i would tend to want the Rat to do. That is a pretty under-rated pedal, IMO, especially with a couple changes made to it. :panic:

I used to always use the rat for boosting my amp but since building the tubescreamer clone I don't really like the way the rat sounds for that any more. The main bit of my distorted toane comes from my amp, the TS is just there to tighten it up a bit if I need moar gainz for metal riffery. I also like the "3D feel" with more harmonics (god I sound like a twat :red: ) it gives when you boost rather than just going straight in.

With the rat I think I may do what you said and just find a thin bit of black metal to rivet over the hole. Now I just need to find some :red:

OK, my new board is now 2... I made this cool pedal board strip which houses Wampler Ego Comp>OCD>Timmy>Tuna Melt>Phase90> Boss AC-2 (or Byang Fuzz depending on the band) which then take a cable over to my old board which has This1smyne a/b buffer A goes to Boss PS5>MXR Carbon Copy>Boss DD3>TC Electronic Hall of Fame> amp. b> boes to TC Electronics Polytune (EOL)

Also on this board is my Wireless Unit which takes the the out to the first pedal strip. Also made all my patch cables with GFS pancakes ends and Evidence audio monorail cable. I looked at this on Friday night and although I made this up a few weeks ago I was thinking I needed to take a picture and post it here. It's quite impressive with teh Bogner switch there also

I love it. I admit, I don't use it that much, I pretty much use the Bogner verb (has separate levels for each channel) but it gets used for spatial effects on a few tunes and whenever I go to a studio and the crap amp in the rehearsal studio doesn't have 'verb

Also Chris, the T & A fuzz will do in place of either the AC-2 or OCD. I haven't used the OCD in about 5 gigs......

I will be sending u a postal MO, that ok? I have your address. It's still the same right?

Yeah, and yes. I have sent money orders but never received them. Shouldn't be a problem though.

Aslo, just to toss it out there, Paypal would also be fine (and quicker) if that is more convenient.

Aslo aslo, the fuzzy mcbox, i hope you will dig. It can do fuzz or heavy distortion, or a slightly lighter distortion not wildly dissimilar from the mid to upper OCD range or thereabouts.

My wonder will be whether it might have too much fuzz for you to make use of in a realworld gigging environment. We will get it built and sent to you first, and you can let me know.

What i mean is, if it doesn't work for you, make sure you let me know, we can make it work, yo..

it's very nice, I was going to go with the turbo tuner but the poly came in at $69 shipped to ma door, and I do like the poly mode even if just to czech the tuning quick. I can read it better that the old tu-2 in the sun also. Of course us nocturnals don't do well in the sun anyway but it happens

I don't think too much fuzz should be a problem I will probably use it on the clean channel to make nastyness happen. I seem to like my fuzzes there. Of course we can always tweak.

So here's the curent pic of my split pedal boared. This was a t a private party on a deck, so usually they are a bit closer around the keyboard stand, but you get the idea. The 1st board is full of dirt and fuzz,

Wampler Ego>OCD>Timmy>TunaMelt>Phase90>T&A Fuzz>>>to second board

board 2> this1smynea/b with minibuffer>A=Polytune B= AC2>PS5>Carbon Copy>TC HoFame

The Wireless sits on this board also....
