and rather give money to someone I don't know I think I would rather give my cash to Chris. So Chris, Could I employ you to make me a fuzz of some type, now I'll have you know I don't use a lot of fuzz and am not a fuzz conniseur, I am actually purty happy with my black Russian Big Muff, but it is far too big for my board and I thought of rehousing, but reading they are built shit parts that need to be replaced so what do you think? Could you whip something up?

Definitely easy to make a Muff in a little box. Harder to rehouse the EH-style stuff, because the PC boards are pretty big, and the smallest box i think they will fit in is like a 1590BB(the bigger of the two most popular sizes, like a doublewide MXR box).

If you just want a copy of the muff you have you could perhaps send it to me and i could try to build one just like it(the parts values in big muffs generally tend to be a whole lot of "whatever they had most of at the factory that day").

Or if you want something similar but different, maybe an IC muff(like the smashingpumpkins-made-famous style). Or one of the muffs with extra EQ shit and options added to them that the kids like so much these days.

Depends on what you use yours for, and what you want from one. If you like the muff, i don't know that i would suggest something non-muff necessarily. If you wanted something nastier maybe, but otherwise, a big muff is kind of its own thing, in my opinion, in the fuzz world. It really skirts the line between what i would call "heavy distortion" and what i would call "fuzz". It is a little smoother than most "fuzzes", and a little sharper than most "distortions" in my opinion. More of a unique type beasty.

Yeah I'd like a little something extra in there, maybe it could get a bit harsher without going nuts. More fuzz. Bit of EQ or tone knob would be great.

I could build lots of different things.

Give me some ideas of a sonic need you might want fill, sounds you want to make, or things you want to do, and we can figure something out.

In my humble opinion, sounds like you want a tweaked muff, or an IC muff, either equipped with the extra twiddly-knobs that as chris put it "the kids like these days."

Maybe something in the realm of the Musket Fuzz.

I'll listen to a few things and come up with an idea... perhaps. Or I will just say surprise me. That usually works out best.

Either way is fine, but i would suggest at least making a list of things you don't like in a fuzz.

Also, would you use a fuzz:

for solos?

for chordstuffs?

never?

Definitely more for solo-y note-y stuff, not much for the chordy stuff. Definitely not liking muddy...

Hmm I would say a modded muff for the twiddly-knobs.

I just like twiddly-knobs though.

hmmm, maybe a T & A muff, Tits knob for high end, ass knob for low end, Shaved knob for fuzz.... hmmm this is starting to take shape

Gonna need a "suspicious bulge" control.

You should have that be the mids control. Like a scooped, flat, and boosted mids 3-way rotary switch.

fuck yes my friend, we have a design for a build now. Just pm me your required compensation and we're gold.

It may seem like i have forgotten this, but i have not. I could always just go with a simple modified big muff, but there are truly lots of those out there in the universe, and i am looking into some other options. In short, i am aiming for: more gain, less gain, and more tonal flexibility, while still being capable of a standard-esque bigmuff impersonation of sorts.

I have built about a dozen things on the breadboard to see what i want to build.

I have about 2-3 more things i want to look at, then i will know what i would do.

One thing i want to be clear on, you want it in a small-footprint box, yes? Like the MXR size?

if possible, yes, but just smaller than the USS Big Muff. Small knobs are ok, I don't twiddle once I have my settings. But a larger box would be ok, like an MXR but wider would work.
